Cool. I thought as much, but wanted to make sure.

Essence cost is what it takes if you don't have the Cyber Torso. Capacity is the space it takes in the Cyber Torso.

Rules and such / Cyberware question
« Last post by IC3H4MM3R on <11-06-24/1205:24> »
I was considering adding an internal airtank on a character. In the stats it gives a capacity, but in the description it says it replaces part of the lungs. Do you have to replace the meat torso with a cyber one in order to house the tank, or can it be added to a limb or do you just ignore the capacity if you haven't replaced the torso? Or you just can't use it without the cyber torso?

Catalyst's Shadowrun Products / Falling Point - inconsistency?
« Last post by Longshot23 on <11-03-24/2155:14> »
In the Humanis Policlub (boo!) chapter in Falling Point, it's written that Human Nation (boo! more) are 'the more aggressive and thuggish policlub'. This is a bit of a reversal from previous editions, where HP were the ones with thuggish 'elements' and HN were the money and influence folks. HP might target a metahuman (or 'metahuman') business or service with harassment (escalating or not), but HN were the ones who put money into covert(?) sterilisation clinics and did the legislation dance. Not that HP wasn't said to try to get anti-metahuman laws passed as well, they just weren't as smooth or successful as HN.

Was this a deliberate change?

General Discussion / Re: 6e - Spirit Economy

GM is deliberately ignoring rules to cripple your player - walk away. There's no way to fix GMs like that, and staying encourages them to get worse.

5E players have (Body) boxes of damage overflow if the Physical is filled up. 6E players have Body x 2 boxes. Go over that, you're toast.

I don't have my books at hand, but *if* I remember correctly,

- 1st edition didn't have damage overflow, it just increased the target number needed to stabilize the patient. And each minute added +1 as well. As you only needed 1 success, and could buy a one-shot focus fetish to give an auto-success, there was nothing to stop you resurrecting Mozart.

- 2nd edition had a flat 6 overflow boxes, and the only way to improve that was to have Pheonix as your totem (which was the smart move for any Adept).

- 3rd and 4th editions have overflow equal to the patient's Body - so if you exceeded that, you needed physical spells (being dead, mana spells couldn't help them): a mix of Improve Cyberbody and Shapechange. They'd then still be dead (magic can't change that) but could now be saved by a Trauma Patch. Replacing the beastiary with bonuses equal to the successes on the Shapechange spell made it easier to save Trolls Orcs and Dwarves but harder to save humans and elves.
To really pull out the stops in 4th required having a Spirit loan the Endowment power to an Adept who could then loan Berserk for an additional point of Body.
However, you then had to *heal* that damage, which was tricky. Loaning Regeneration the obvious move, if possible.

Do I remember correctly?
And what are the options for 5th and 6th edition?
Thanks.

Hoi, Chummers.  I go by Neal Allen on public servers or the Soft-Word on this particular one.  I'm looking for players for a 5th edition, PBP campaign of Shadowrun based entirely in discord.

This campaign is lower optimization, focused on characters and story.  How does your character survive in the brutal streets of city life? How do they see and interact fellow street-citizens they pass by in their day-to-day life? What vices to they turn to when life becomes hard to cope with? Which missions do they accept or reject, and how hard do they barter just to stay afloat?

I have been DMing and playing TTRPGs for over a decade and have fallen in love with the cyberpunk / fantasy of Shadowrun.  It facilitates an experience of deep introspection in to the self, the universe, and the decisions of characters for every step they take.  There are no sessions, being play-by-post, but the expectation of input from players (and DM) are not lesser than that of a session-based campaign.  Everyone will be contributing to the missions and story(ies) a minimum of once a day (a simple "yes" or "no" reply to a question asked) to once a week (a paragraph update on character actions during down time).

Character creation is as RAW except for three modifications:
1. Priority is B, C, D, E, and E
2. (RG1:) No Action Phase Attack Limit
3. (RG4:) Alternative Initiative

If you're interested in checking out how the game plays, let me know and we can chat about goals and/or I can add you to the Discord as a guest.

May we run the shadows with less than a whisper

"Mercer Island, somehow still green amidst it all, passes out of sight slowly.  The rim of the train's window slowly covers the small sight-patch of earth as the vehicle slows to a haul for the Rainer stop.  The doors open, the air awash with the smell and damp as the beings move between platforms.

Soft wave of laughter followed by attention and action of the subtleties of the night.  The 86th floor of Dassurn S&I's, balcony aglow with dozens of partygoers, politicians, and the puckish.  Many an intent passed underneath the building's transparacover.  Even on the fringes of the party, the shoulder of a newscaster bears the humidity of a heavy sky.

A rhythmic thunk with the constant vibrations of the engine in the structure that holds you above Seattle harbour as you and your chaperone speed towards a sailboat just becoming distinguishable from it's way out.   From all around you, the rain of Seattle."

I'm under the same name on Dumpshock (Beta) and was in the Forbidden Arcana game.

The Found Arcana, Beta. We've only been playing for six years now.
