I'm going to take a crack at making a decker or technomancer character- not sure which one yet. It's been taking me a while to digest the new matrix rules.  Might try a heavy street same later this week too.

Wait a minute, I just looked over the skill point rules again.  Priority C gives me 28 skill points and 2 skill group points- do the skill group points come out of the 28, or are they in addition to it?    I thought they came out of the skill points, but I just looked at it again and now I'm not sure.

The group points are separate, for example,

Okay so I've got 2 more skill points to put into Corvus.  I'll take a look at that after I finish this technomancer character.  So far it's looking like technomancers are weaker overall than deckers, especially since deckers benefit from both karma and nuyen while technomancers have more uses for karma and very little for nuyen.  But they have a few cool tricks and just seem a bit simpler, which is important to me since the matrix rules are still a bit fuzzy to me.  Is that everyone elses impression, technomancers being a bit weak?

Here's Beau. Looking at him as stated he would probably fit better into the "other" category, although in a pinch he could serve as a "soft" samurai.

Pretty much anything on the sheet is negotiable. If he needs more optimization or specialization that's fine.
Born in Denton, TX on the fringes of the DFW plex Beauregard was one of “those” meta kids. You know the one- the one who smiled through the abuse, worked twice as hard as the “normal” kids and could have been a recruiting poster for the local meta rights chapter. He went to college at the University of North Texas to study and did damn well. When he graduated he applied for and was excepted to the Texas Rangers – Law Enforcement Division.
It was during his probationary period that everything went horribly wrong. Wet behind the ears and too trusting of the system Beauregard reported a well connected superior to Internal Affairs. Within days Beau had been framed, arrested and convicted of bogus BTL charges. Beau did eight years in the CAS Federal Penitentiary in Huntsville Alabama. Released only months ago Beau went as far from home as his resources would carry him.
Destitute, Beau turned to the shadows and found that his discipline, professionalism and flexibility were enough to keep him afloat while he learned the ropes.

I still think technomancers are underpowered, but went with one because they seem a little simpler to play and I like the whole "persecuted outsider" thing they ave going on.

Contacts  12

Amy Wilson- Nurse at a Street Clinic
Connection 2, Loyalty 4
Amy is Static’s friend and sometimes love interest. She knows him by his real name, and even knows that he’s a technomancer. She works at a clinic in his area which is known for treating people (sometimes SINless people) with no questions asked.  In addition to getting him treated at the clinic, Amy can acquire medical supplies, and can provide in-home long-term care at a steep discount (because he pays her directly, cutting the clinic out of it).  She also sometimes watched over Static when he goes on particularly dangerous Matrix runs.  She has a UCAS SIN and no criminal record.

Mimir- Data Broker
Connection 5, Loyalty 2
Mimir makes a living buying and selling information of all kinds, from programs, to corporate R&D, fake ID’s, to insider information about organizations of all stripes.  He only meets his contacts in the matrix, so nobody knows who he is, and he won’t buy or sell anything physical.  He has developed a good working relationship with Static over the past one and a half years.  He is presumably an accomplished decker, but there’s no being sure of that.

“John Jackson”- Black Market Electronics Dealer
Connection 3, Loyalty 2
John specializes in buying and selling electronic gear of all kinds, including decks, commlinks, communications gear, software, sensors, and the occasional piece of electronic B&E gear.  He has known Static for  almost 2 years, but they don’t do business together all that often.

Biography

Eric Cardova was born with a SIN in the Pueblo Corporate Council.  He was a quiet, bookish kid who got along alright with his peers, but was physically clumsy, and always more interested in the matrix than in real life.  In his teens, he started to develop techomantic abilities.  He didn’t realize what he was doing for a long time, and once he did, he kept it secret from everyone he knew.

At the age of 17, Eric finally came out to his parents.  They were shocked- his father reacted as if he was some kind of criminal, while his mother seemed to think he was sick.  They both told him he should register as a technomancer with the government, as required by law.  His father largely stopped talking to him, while his mother kept suggesting that he seek “treatment,” whatever that meant.

Eric finally went to a government registration office.  Instead of registering as a technomancer as his parents expected though, he submitted false biometric data, ensuring that it would be almost impossible to match him to his SIN unless someone he knew identified him.  He then bought a plane ticket to Seattle and went off the grid for a while.  Once the new biometric data was processed into the system, he was effectively SINless.

For almost 2 years, Eric has just barely scraped by as a freelance hacker and computer programmer, and has only recently upgraded from a dingy squat to a real apartment.  He spends most of his time in the matrix or watching sports, and is a big Mariners fan.  He recently made the reluctant decision to try shadowrunning, knowing it was likely to involve more physical and outdoor activity than he is used to, but also represented his best shot at escaping poverty.
OK. UrbanBrawl seems also to switch for 5ed, so Zach will be converted anyway but stays there. Just saying, that I wont participate in this game...

Yeah they started life just as practice chars i'd made up to figure out chargen, but now they've been fleshed out a bit i like both of them. I went back and finished both my chars, edited original post on P1 of this thread. I've expanded on their history, contacts etc.
Re: weak immune system, i read it as applying all the time. they just can't fight off infections as easily as others, and tends to follow immuno-suppresant drug treatments (ie after implants). Dij (hacker has quite a bit of ware and he noticed he has become weaker since having the rigger box implanted.
looking forward to hopefully being picked :-)

I'd prefer to play the combat adept as i always play "the tech guy", it'd be nice to be the rugged gun-slinger for a change but i dont mind at all if you'd rather have Dij rolling out as decker/rigger instead

Roku, human face, secondary fire support

Name: Robert Kuruni
Alias: Roku
Race: human
Sex: male
Age: 24
Ancestry: Japanese/Caucasian
Nationality: UCAS
Lifestyle: middle, 1 month (6.000 nujen)
Karma Spent: 25
Physical Description: Roku bears the signs of both mongolid and europid ancestors. He is shorter than average (170 cm) and his facial features hint at Japanese parentage, his body proportions are however characteristic of Caucasian people. He has short, fashionabe black hair, very dark brown eyes, and a pale complexion. He usually wears clothes by the latest fashion, although not the tres chic version: mainly cheap or reasonably priced copies. If he has to go to business meetings, he goes back to the traditional style suits. A constant accessory are his glasses, which can be polarized to look either normal or sunglasses. He always has a weapon or two on his person, concealed or openly, according to situation.
Personality/background Roku was born in Seattle as the only son of a Japanese software developer and a local sim starlet. His father was disowned by the family because of his marriage, which also prevented him to advance up the corporate ladder, but they got by. His mother got lesser roles in several soap operas.
Roku was never interested in serious work, like that of his father. He got the hang of getting people belive almost everything he wanted them to early on, so he left the family home as soon as he was 16, and got by doing the odd job, eventually becoming a con man. He got jobs from several shady parties, and became entangled with the yakuza, although his mixed parentage didn't allow him to be recognized as full member. This he wlcomed, he didn't want to be tied down to a single organization.
Eventually, he got better and better jobs, and got introduced into the Shadows.
Roku is a very self-confident person. He is intuitive, and very active, and he feels he doesn't have enough time to do what he intends to. He decides things quickly, then relies on his abilities and luck to carry him through whatever situation he got in.

Working on my social infiltrator and came across something that I wanted to make sure was OK.

1. Hold out pistols say no accessories. Does that mean everything on the accesories table or just top/barrel/under mounted stuff. I'm assuming this as light pistols say only top and barrel if i remember correctly and one has an internal laser sight and if it was no accesories period then it would mean no clips or holsters either which doesn't seem right. Basically I want to put an internal Smartlink in the street line special.

2. Used Cyberware is -4 availability which means that availability 16 items would become avail 12 if bought as used gear. Is this OK? Basically to be able to infiltrate past a retenal scanner I wanted to buy retinal duplication 3 or 4.

3. If you have a defendant is your initial life style cost before game starts affected withe the percentage increase or is that only past character creation?

Thanks,
Red

Ok, I've done some more reviewing of characters this morning, and I've got some comments.  Nothing earth-shattering, but comments nonetheless.

Corvus, B&E Adept
Static, Technomancer

Same issue with both characters - you didn't provide full Karma and Resource expenditures.  That's explicitly stated in the first post regarding character generation.  Can you edit your characters to show this please?

Dragonfire
Decker/Face

The only issue I see on first review is that the character has no name.  Unless I missed it somewhere?

Crunch
Beau, Street Samurai

As with Panzergeist's characters, I need to see the Resource expenditure please.  Also, and not totally necessary, but a little sentence about why he reported a superior officer, and why that caused him to be framed, would be nice.

Ren
Roku, Face/Secondary Support

I'm having a problem actually reviewing the character.  The spoiler tag is not functioning correctly.  I can scroll through half the character, but any more than that and it resets the tag and pushes me back to the top of the character.  Can you check this please?

All4BigGuns
Snake, Street Samurai

Good work here!  I've got nothing that I can see that needs fixing!
I could wile away the hours conversing with the flowers
Consulting with the rain
And my head I'd be scratching while my thoughts were busy hatching
If I only had a brain...
