Chargen in 5ed has two alternatives: Street level and Prime runner. Im going to rebuild character Im using for Urban Brawl PbP - Zach. I was thinkig about the possibility to have prime runner starting karma buffer, so I can reflect his karma developement (cca 50 karma gained). It was just andidea, Im going to rebuild it with respect to new rules so not everything would be the same on the character and I have some experiences with him so I can avoid some glitches I noticed when playing him.

EDIT:  After reviewing the question further, I went to the book to check on Street Level vs. Prime Runner, and to see the alternatives for character creation.  After reviewing them, I am going to state that this will be standard build only.  No Street Level or Prime Runner options.  The basic build assumes a bit of experience on the street, but not to the extent that you know what you are doing in all situations.

The primary thing here is that I don't want to handcuff players with a new system right off the bat, and I don't have enough experience with 5E yet to start making adjustments to character generation without having a really good reason to do so first.  So we're going to use the standard build rules, and not any of the alternatives.

NP. Im currious what will come out of this. And hope I`ll catch with the deadline :)

I'd like to express my interest as well. I have recently gotten the book and have not had a lot of time to digest it but, I do have a concept. A Decker and BTL addict. Not just any BTL, only the ones that deal with the subject of Alice in Wonderland. As I read and understand more on the creation rules I will post more, unless I miss the cut off period.

Ok, I've taken a quick look at the characters submitted, and I've got some feedback.  Before that, though, I'd like to state that I've edited the first post so everyone - especially myself - can see what is submitted and what is being considered.  Now, without further ado...

Csjarrat
2 submissions here, a Human Combat Adept and a Human Decker.  The first thing I'll say is that while I'm not against someone submitting multiple concepts/characters, I'd rather you love one instead of liking 2 or more.

The next thing I'd like to point out...or, better put, ask...is for more information on your contacts.  I see you've listed that you have them, but you didn't give them names, or specialties, or personalities, or anything to work with.  You don't have to write a novel, but a couple sentences on each would go a long way.

Finally, I'm interested in seeing a little more information on the quality Weak Immune System.  Is it always present, such that the character appears weak all the time?  Or is it just something that manifests when he's sick/hurt?  It can be either, really; I'm just interested in seeing how you plan on portraying that in-game.

Chrona
Single submission here, an Ork Adept.  All I would like to ask is, much like Csjarrat above, more information on the contacts.  Other than that, looks pretty solid to me.

Serafina
Again, only a single submission - Human Mage.  And the only thing I can say here is that I don't see any contacts in your character at all.  You should get CHA x 3 in free contact points per the book, but you omitted them entirely.  Can you please add them?

So that's it for now.  I'll edit my first post with the characters submitted.  And thanks for submitting them guys!

With fixers i usually wait until the GM has a solid idea, otherwise we end up with as many fixers as characters but only the faces, or best connected, gets used. I prefer to have the same fixer as at least someone on the team, or one created by the GM so there are less superfluous npcs. If you require a personal fixer then he can be a Saeder Krupp Middle Management Johnson who was in charge of his career path and didn't want to see his talent go to waste after the corp kicked him to the curb.
The arms dealer can be the Russian Andrei Glukov, an independent who is stationed in the warehouse district and handles black market arms in the area.

The fixer isn't the important one.  The arms dealer...that's pretty significant.  And individual.  Can you add the detail to the character for that one please?

The fixer...I agree with you whole-heartedly.  We'll work on that one once the team comes together.

Here's my character.  I ended up going a little crazy on the bio, put a lot of detail into that as well as the contacts and one of the fake SINs (the other SIN is cheap and disposable, but the first is important).  Also don't have a fixer contact, although the data broker contact could be a source of runs.  I wasn't sure if you had a fixer contact you would want to use independent of the contacts we chose.  I know my old GM has a fixer he made that he gave us all as a free contact.

Contacts

Marcellus Fisk
Street Doc
Connection 1, Loyalty 1
Marcellus is a dependable, if unremarkable street doctor.  He can be a good source of drugs and medical supplies, and will also buy used ‘ware without asking too many questions as long as he’s sure it won’t be traced to him.  More importantly to Corvax though, he knows how to treat the awakened, as well as how to deal with someone like Corvax who has a weak immune system and problems with antibiotics.

John “Hancock” Marston
Forger
Connection 2, Loyalty 3
Corvus tends not to form strong and lasting attachments to people, but Hancock is one of the few people who has really gotten to know him.  Hancock has provided him with several fake SIN’s and licenses over the years, as well a smaller documents for use in particular jobs.  Corvus, in turn, has on two occasions helped Hancock intimidate enemies who were threatening to do him harm, and as a result the two have formed something that might be called a friendship.
Alexandria
Data Broker/Decker
Connection 3, Loyalty 1
Alexandria is a decker who specializes in collecting, buying and selling information of all kinds.  She rarely, if ever hires herself out as a decker, but instead collects information on her own initiative, whether through purchase, trade or theft.  She knows a lot of other runners, mostly deckers, who she trades information with, and was introduced to Corvus by his friend Hancock.  She is mainly useful as both a supplier and potential buyer of information, as well as a referral source for deckers and spies.  She can also act as a fence for matrix-related good such as decks and commlinks, but will typically act exasperated when asked to do so- it’s good money, but she likes to think of herself as being above dealing in physical goods.

Eric Halford
News Editor
Connection 3, Loyalty 1
Eric Halford is an editor for the Seattle Examiner, a mid-sized local news service which disseminates news through mailing lists and its Matrix host.  Unlike Corvus’s other contacts, Eric has a legal SIN, uses his real name, and doesn’t know Corvus as a shadowrunner.  Rather, he knows Keith Springer, Corvus’s main fake identity.  As Keith, Corvus has written a few articles for the Examiner, ranging on topics from crime, to fashion, to concerts to local business news.  He considers Keith an average writer at best, but Keith has surprised him a few times with articles in which he’s gotten inside scoops, mostly in crime or business stories.  Between Keith’s apparent inside scoops on crime stories, seeming lack of formal training, and unwillingness to talk much about himself, Eric has some suspicion that Keith isn’t who he says he is.  He doesn’t really care though, although he’s sometimes curious about Keith’s sources.

Corvus Bio

Alex Jensen was born SINless to a decent but unremarkable mother, and a deadbeat father who he rarely saw.  His childhood wasn’t that terrible by SINless standards; he lived in a rough neighborhood and a broken home, and got into a lot of fights, but he got some education from various charitable organizations and free matrix sources, and was never in danger of starving.

Alex’s mother died when he was twelve years old.  He arranged a funeral for her just in time to get evicted from their apartment, and so began living as a squatter.  There he lived off of a combination of charity and theft, barely scraping by, with little contact with and no help from his father.  He was on the verge of desperation when he awakened.  Suddenly, stealing just seemed easier, and Alex was able to feed himself again. Eventually he met a physical adept named Simon, who brought him under his tutelage.

Simon worked as a burglar, and was one of the best in Seattle.  He taught Alex the trade of theft, as well as helping him to harness his magical power and channel it into adept powers.  Although Alex largely learned Simon’s physically-focused adept powers and most of his skills, he had an aptitude for con artistry and other social skills that Simon didn’t have.  Together, the two of them made an amazing team.  Simon also stuck to a moral code: he avoided violence wherever possible, wouldn’t harm innocent bystanders, and his thefts were always targeted at people who could avoid the loss, whose lives wouldn’t be ruined by them.  He did his best to impress these principles on Alex.

During this time, Alex’s father was sent to prison for 5-10 years for manslaughter, as a result of a fight he and some friends got into. Rather than visit him in prison, Alex simply went to his home and looted his belongings, as revenge for years of shitty parenting.  It was shortly after this that Raven appeared to Alex, and took the boy under his wing.  Alex began calling himself Corvus shortly thereafter.

It came as a shock when Simon was gunned down by a gang of thieves in a botched mugging.  Bereaved, Corvus arranged a funeral and cremation for Simon.  However, at Raven’s urging, he also kept most of Simon’s belongings rather than passing them on to his next of kin. After that, Corvus embarked on a very successful solo career as a con artist and burglar, and has been able to provide quite well for himself.  His greatest success came when he palmed a key to a talismonger’s shop, then robbed the store later that night.  He found a rare and valuable weapon focus in the form of a monofilament whip.  Monowhips being highly illegal, the talismonger was unable to report this theft because monowhips.  Corvus had never seen a monowhip before, but became obsessed with it, and began practicing with it obsessively while laying low after the burglary, which he (wrongly) assumed would bring a lot of heat down on his head.

Over the course of his career, Corvus has been through several fake SIN’s.  Two years ago he hit in the idea of pretending to be a journalist and getting a fake press pass so he could gather information under a legitimate cover.  He even began writing a few freelance pieces for various local news services under the name Keith Springer in order to bolster the identity, but found that journalism was actually kind of fun, especially when he was assigned to write about a local rock concert.  He now makes a minor side income writing freelance articles, most often for the Examiner.

Corvus loves rock music, and sings karaoke when he really wants to unwind.  He also is a snappy dresser (when dressing to look good rather than fit in), and sometimes uses his knowledge of fashion to aid him in his work.  He is prone to bouts of sickness, and allergic to most antibiotics, so he is a bit paranoid about filth and disease.

Corvus is a very likable person, but people who get to know him often come to question his reliability.  Although an able combatant, Corvus has never killed anyone.  He shot someone once, but not seriously, and on another occasion he cut a ganger’s hand off with his monowhip, but then retreated and allowed the man to be treated by his friends.  Corvus lacks a clear moral code, but instead has feelings of ambivalence regarding the morality of some of hi actions.  He sometimes feels torn between violence and non-violence, honesty and manipulativeness, and between the advice of his mentor spirit and the ethics of society at large.

After a bad couple of months in which he lost some of his B&E gear, had to move to a new apartment to escape some heat, and burned through much of his savings, Corvus has decided to broaden his horizons and try out shadowrunning.
EDIT: Raised the ettiquette and negotiation skills to 5 each after realizing I had misunderstood the skill point rules- thought the two skill group points also counted against the individual skill points.

Darn. I almost missed this. I swear, its hard noticing things happening on these forums.

Did I completely miss the train?

Hmm I may have to rework my original idea on my WiP char. I was going go with a human adept built for tanking hits, but the adept seems like a popular choice. So, I'll try and go for the overtly street samurai. Im very...rather Trollish.

Quick question: are there any limits to gear, cyberware, or money for character creation?

I've got a concept for a human Tech type I'd like to submit named Silver Cowboy. He's a gunsmith with a bit of hacking/electronics skillset. His father was an exec for Mitsuhama, and his mother was a university professor specializing in American history.

That work? :)

That should give me more than enough time to post my street samurai.

I should have him up today or tomorrow, barring any simple mistakes I may have made. Picking augs is a'lot different than I thought.

I've got an overtly cybered up street samurai created that I would love to play in a campaign like this.

Posting this as a placeholder until I get home from work and can post stats and background.

Hello. Here's a Decker/Face character that I've been working on.

Name: Drake Kuroi
Alias: Zen
Age: 35
Height: 6'1"
Meta: Elf
Decker/Face:

A- Gear (450,000)
B- Skills (36/5)
C- Attributes (16)
D- Elf (0)
E- Magic/Resonance (0)

Name: Drake Kuroi
Alias: Zen
Age: 35

Background: Zen was born into the NeoNET corporation. His father was an accountant and his mother was a teacher with the company’s elementary school. From an early age, Zen had a penchant for taking apart electronics and understanding their inner workings. This inevitably led to a matrix focused education. The organization recognized his potential and ensured to foster his abilities.

He spent his life under the safety of the organization, ultimately obtaining a high-level position as corporate decker. He had a knack for understanding how to get into encrypted files and was able to shrug off attacks from deckers trying to get into NeoNET’s databases. Throughout his division, he was known as the go to security decker. He would even provide decker support to strike teams in a pinch where a combat focused spider couldn’t be found. He tended to stay away from the action though. His silver tongue helped to accelerate his promotions, as he was moved up the chain, even gaining access and security responsibilities for some of NeoNET’s most confidential files.

One day while serving as a spider, Zen noticed a few files that seemed out of place on their storage databases. He only meant to open the files to find the appropriate user and notify them of the abnormality. What Zen found was evidence of experimentation on individuals that seemed to be able to commune with the very fabric of the matrix. The nature and brutality of these experiments were beyond Zen’s comprehension.

Zen brought the files to the attention of his supervisor. He was instructed that it would be taken care of and to take the rest of the day off. When Zen arrived home that day, he found his wife and kids slain. As the full weight of the scene he found before him materialized, a NeoNET strike team fell upon him. As he stared down the muzzle of an Predator, he saw a burst of red energy explode around his assailant. As the strike team member collapsed, Zen saw his old friend Burn materialize out of the ether.

Burn explained that Zen had been accused of murdering his family and more strike team members were on the way. Using his mystic skills, Burn aided Zen in escaping the house and evacuating NeoNET property. Thanks to Zen’s computer skills, he was able to transfer the last of his funds to a certified credstick. It’s been two years since Zen escaped NeoNET. He’s made a bit of a name for himself in the shadows, thanks in large part to the help of a Fixer he had met prior to his evacuation from NeoNET. His computer skills are still top notch, but he’s supplemented that with some street skills as well. He never thought that being a corporate fast talker would be handy in the shadows.

-Max (Mr. Johnson) Conn 3, Loy 1
-Max is a corporate Johnson. Focused on professionalism and providing good Nuyen for steady future service. He’s about as trustful of a Johnson as you can get. Of course, the bottom line is what drives his motivation. Wouldn’t risk double crossing him, but wouldn’t trust him either. Nuyen tends to be good though, thanks to corporate backing.

-Steve “Laser” Roberts (Corporate Security – Fire Team) Conn 2, Loy 3
-Laser grew up in the NeoNET corporate family as well. Zen and Laser have been friends since
they were kids. Laser hasn’t forgotten their connection, though, at the end of the day he still remembers that he’s an employee of NeoNET. He’s willing to provide support every now and then though, if it’s in the company’s best interests.

-Red (Fixer) Conn 5, Loy 2
-Sometimes you need to get something that the corporations don’t approve of. That’s where Red comes into play. He met Zen on the matrix, wandering around chatrooms no corporate security and hacking. Since then, the two have traded gear for useful information. While providing the general Fixer services, Red prefers trading in data. Sometimes a bit of info can be worth more than a crate of cyber implants. Red tends to act as the middleman and prefers to have products delivered rather than showing his face. He appears as a Mad Hatter icon on the matrix.

-William “Burn” McArthur (Corporate Mage – Strike Team) Conn 1, Loy 4
-Burn saved Zen from the same fate as his family. Burn had received a notification of a strike on Zen’s house. The two had grown up together. The message indicated that Zen had murdered his family and was armed and dangerous. Burn could not believe such a thing and immediately reported to the house to investigate. Upon utilizing his mystic powers, he realized that Zen had been set up. He later aided Zen’s escape from NeoNET.
