Mission-wise, well, I'm not a big fan of 'investigation' style games. They tend to bore me to tears normally.

As to working together, my characters will normally work with just about anyone. It's rather unprofessional to let one's personal feelings toward another person get in the way of the job after all.

Edit- Noticed the question marks on metatype on the list, so I figured I'd confirm that here. The character would be an elf (just base elf as the metavariants don't really interest me for one reason or another).

I changed Exile to a Minotaur, and gave him a low level gang contact (2/1) to reflect them somewhat looking out for him.

Jack  Ork combat hacker/adept

Jack has a gift for technology. If he had been born to a corporate family he probably would have gone to MIT&T and been a well paid corporate computer expert. He didn't. He grew up in the puyallup barrens. He was small (for an orc)  so learned that his best protection was a strong rep for repaying any slight. He technical expertise focused on weapons primarily. He didn't expect to live long, but he was going to be damn sure that he wouldn't go out without a fight - and a long line of broken bodies attests to what he does to people who don't manage to actually kill him. It wasn't until he was discovered by the owners of the Armadillo bar that his horizons were broadened.  The owners take in people with a gift for matrix work and train them - to honor the deceased bartender who took them in and helped them when they needed it.

It turns out Jack's gift for technology extends to computers - and especially hacking.

His technology training is now complete - and they gave him a cutting edge com and software to boot (no one every gave jack anything before). Jack still doesn't expect to live very long -  he's left a trail of broken and bleeding bodies over his short life and payback's a bitch - but he is committed to repaying the folks at the Armadillo before he dies.

.......
I'm thinking an adept with exceptional skill at automatics and hacking. For flaws I want to take day job (spending time working at the bar) in debt (not that they actually expect him to pay it back - but he always pays his debts) and vindictive. I'm also thinking about taking local fame.

Since I work at a bar in the barrens I could have met up with just about anyone and  know enough about their talents to work with them on jobs I don't think I can do alone. For example, if a small time gang came into the bar and messed the place up - or stole something - I could see working with a group of runners to return the favor. Maybe I get word of where their stash of drugs/btls/whatever is and I contact a few people to help me take it off their hands and spend the proceeds? At least one other player seemed to be kicking around having yakuza ties, so I might want to bring someone like that in to make sure things don't escalate out of control (e.g. sell the goods to the Yakuza at a discount to so no one bigger than the street gang I hit has a reason to get involved).
I could see Jack looking out for someone like Exile long enough for him to get on his feet- depending on how they met up.
Also, Jack's morally flexible enough, and talented enough, that he could be pulled in on all the standard runs and would be glad for the work.

I can post the full stats tonight if you want - it seems like your main focus for now is concept though.
I'm not in any play by post games

Name: Benjamin "Benny" Saunders
Runner Persona: Killer-B
Age: 18
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 186 lbs.
Skin/Hair/Eyes: Ashy Grey, Black, Hazel-Brown

Appearance:
Benny is a fairly typical specimen of a orc male, standing around six foot three and weighing around 180 lbs. (more with gear of course). His skin is a near ashy shade of grey, his hair is black, and his eyes are a diluted hazel-brown (though one rarely sees him without some manner of glasses, shades, or goggles on). Benny wears a discrete but formidable armor set-up that can be concealed under virtually any type of clothing (excepting shorts and tank tops). On jobs, Benny wears a tailor-made street-suit (complete with trench coat) that can change color to adapt to his environment. Day to day, or when meeting Johnsons, Benny's clothing can vary but generally tend to follow the latest Underground trends.

Personality:
Benny is a fairly reserved individual and the universal consensus among all those who know him is that he really needs to find room for a bit more "me time" in his life. Generally speaking, as a runner, Benny is consummate professional, taking his all of his employment contracts very seriously. However, he does have a few peculiarities. Benny was raised in a fairly devote New Baptism family in the Underground, and while not exactly devote himself, the tenants of the faith have colored his personality a bit. Likewise, his father was very anti-human and Benny himself suspects, but can't yet prove, that local members of Humanis had something to do with his brother Marcus's disappearance. Thus, Benny is somewhat biased against humans. This combined with his mean streak and temper can sometimes compromise his professionalism during runs, but he tries his best to keep his moods in check. It's also important to note that family is very important subject to Benny. He hates his mother for abandoning the family and blames her for his father for drinking himself to death in the years afterwards. He is near obsessed with finding his brother Marcus (though he suspects he's dead) and still treats his other brother, Trent, as an over-protective parent would. Finally, Benny is a surprisingly moral individual (at least by runner standards), when his temper is in-check. He tends to employ non-lethal tactics whenever a job will allow for it. Though, when he loses his temper that can change rather quickly.

Background:
Benjamin "Benny" Saunders, was born and raised in the Ork Underground of the Seatlle Metroplex. His father was allegedly a late goblinized Ork, who came to Seattle from Denver, hoping to find a more stable community within the city's Ork Underground, having been drawn in by a New Baptism missionary. He met Benny's mother there, and in 2054, they had four children, three sons and daughter, though the girl didn't survive much longer than a week after being born. Life for the Saunders family, like that for most Orks was difficult but made easier by strong community ties. However, his was not to last.

Following the Crash 2.0, Benny's father became involved in the formation of Skraacha gang and an increased impetus among members of the New Baptism faithful to become more violently proactive against anti-Ork elements like Humanis. This caused a rift to develop between Benny's parents, and eventually his mother abandoned both her family and the city altogether, causing his father to turn to the heavy binge drinking that claimed his life prematurely, even by Ork standards. Thus at only nine years old, Benny and his brother Marcus and Trent were essentially orphaned, with only their local community and their father's gang to depend upon.

For the most part, Benny's brother Marcus, who matured much more quickly than either Benny or Trent, became the "man of the house" for his brothers and managed to get initiated into Skraacha at only eleven years old, which was still somewhat young, even by Ork standards. Benny spent most of his youth trying to emulate his brother, though his physical stature never quite matched up (which was still a far cry better than Trent, who was born and remained the runt of the liter).

To make up for his lack of natural muscle, Benny took to street fighting and frequenting the local brawl circuits, leeching off whatever he could from watching them. Sometimes he'd even pick fights with the competitors after their matches, just to learn their moves better. So, by the time he was fourteen, he had basically self-taught himself a vicious style of mixed martial arts that made him just as dangerous as Marcus in a brawl, which opened up a place for him among the Skraasha. However, by that time, Marcus had all but abandoned the gang for more lucrative opportunities in the shadows.

Marcus encourage Benny to run some jobs with him, but Benny's conflicting loyalties caused him to shy away from the offers, time and again. This remains a point of near obsessive guilt for Benny, as Marcus disappeared after the completion of one of his runs and hasn't been heard from since. Benny, Trent, and various members of the Skraacha looked into the disappearance, and multiple rumors were uncovered (some not surprisingly pointing an accusatory finger at Humanis), but ultimate nothing was ever solved. Neither Benny nor Trent took the disappearance well. Trent became even more of drug addict and lay about then he already was, while Benny pulled away from friends and community. Some figure say it was out of anger, others arrogance, and still others say it was just the guilt. In truth, it was a little bit of all of that. In any event, soon, Benny began taking over brother's would-be running career.

Benny started out running errands (and quite honestly "hits") for the Skraacha and their clients, but eventually hooked up with his brother's old fixer and found some real jobs. The more jobs he managed to pull off, the more he invested in "improving" himself and trying to create what other runners had informed him should be his "runner persona". Having recently upgraded himself with a electroshock ware (which he swiftly began incorporating into his fighting style), Benny started using "Killer-B" as his runner identity, but was eventually convince by some Skraacha gangers who already knew him that having an actual initial form his name in his supposedly "secret runner identity" was probably not a bright idea. So, for a while Benny tried out "Stryker" as a new identity but quickly found out that nobody in the shadow community was unaware that Killer-B and Stryker were one and the same runner. Thus, Benny returned to using "Killer-B", initial be damned.

Despite his early "hiccups", Benny has settled into the Seattle shadow community and the underworld in general pretty well. He dropped his brother's old fixer a while back when he found a more competent one downtown, and finding jobs is becoming less of a chore. Of course, in the last few years he's also gotten no closer to finding out what actually happened with Marcus, which still eats away at him.
Marcus Saunders, Missing Brother (Ork Muscle, Heavy Weapons Specialist, Novice Rigger)
One of Benny's two fraternal twin brothers. The largest of his brood, despite being the same age as both Benny and Trent, Marcus took on the role of big brother, especially after their mother ran off and their father subsequently drank himself to death. Marcus was in-tight with the Skraacha and encouraged his brothers to likewise associate themselves. He was also a would-be runner, but, after one of his jobs, he went missing. None of the other members of his team (at least the ones that Marcus's friends could hunt down) had any clue what happen to him and confirmed when they split their cuts and went their separate ways, the burly Ork was better than fine.  Benny has felt tremendous guilt ever since his brother's disappearance because Marcus had tried to get him to come in on the run too. Benny started working the shadows shortly after his brother's disappearance, in no small part as means of looking for him or more realistically simply finding out what happened to him. So far, Benny has only heard various conflicting rumors and vague accounts. The only semi-credible story he's heard so far is that on the night his brother disappeared some Humanis clubbers had bragged about taking down a surly Ork who was throwing credits around at a local bar like he owned the place.

Trent Saunders, Ne'er Do Well Brother (Ork Club-Goer, Drug Dealer, Wannabe Skraacha)
One of Benny's two fraternal twin brothers. Trent was the runt of the litter and seemed destined from birth to become the underachiever and ne'er do well of the family. Despite being the same age as both Benny and Marcus, Trent has always been the little brother of the family, first being shelter by Marcus and now by Benny. Trent does do any work in the shadows but he hangs with the Skraacha, who more humor than actually accept him as one of their own (partially because he can be pretty funny sometimes and partially out of respect for his brothers). Marcus is an occasional but steady source of complications for his brother, sometimes needing Benny to fight his battle or pay his debts, and often crashing at his place (with friends no less).

Jense Rabati, Mr. Tall, Dark and Swarthy (Wakyambi Fixer, Chronic Gambler, Smooth-Talker)
Jense Rabati is a pretty scary guy in Benny's opinion. When he walks into a room, he stands almost shoulder to shoulder with even some trolls but moves with a sublime sort of grace and mesmerizing aura of authority. Jense, like any good fixer has his hands in a lot of pots and connections all over the place. Benny has never once come to him not been able to find some kind of work (or at the very least a lead on where to find some work). In earnest, sometimes Benny feels like Jense coerces him into doing some jobs he might otherwise turn down. It is just the way the big, lanky guy looks at you. He gets in your head. Of course, if Jense does have some weird mental powers, he apparently lacks the ability to utilize them at all times, because the man has a serious love of games of chance, but they don't tend to love him back. Benny has literally seen the man lose his entire cut of a job the very same night they got paid. In any event, Benny doesn't fully trust Jense, but then again, in his experience one really shouldn't fully trust any fixer or Mr. Johnson.

Regan Smits, Skraacha Ganger (Ork Femme Fatale, Ex-Girlfriend, Bat-#$@# Crazy Pyromaniac)
Regan Smits was quite literally "the girl next door" for Benny and his brothers. During their youth (which admittedly wasn't THAT long ago) each of the Saunders brothers fancied the free-spirited and oft violent Regan as being their own, but it was Benny who ended up actually getting with her, carnally speaking. However, this proved less than boast-worthy for Benny. Not an hour after losing his virginity, Benny awoke in agony to discover Regan had gleeful set his shirt on fire, and it was at that precise moment, as he panickingly rolled around in the dirt, that Benny realized two things. One, Regan wasn't just feisty and aggressive, she was bat-!#!@ crazy. Two, things were not going to work out between the two of them, romantically speaking. Regan wasn't apparently all too broken-up about this and the two have remained in contact on a friendly basis, though Regan occasionally gets nostalgic and wants to see Benny's scar. In fact, upon learning Benny had his skin replaced; Regan broke into his apartment and burnt him again in his sleep (though this time she brought a bucket of water to put him out).  Given her obvious insanity, one might wonder why Benny bothers keeping in touch with her at all. Well, Regan has earned herself a decent spot among the Skraacha, who don't see her pyromania and violent tendencies as negative qualities (and it also helps that she has fairly loose morals and apparently only feels the need to ritually burn her "first"). She may be nuts, but she's a good "in" to the gang nonetheless.

Doc Zeke, Street Doc (Dwarven Medical Specialist, Man of Mystery, Dirty Old Man)
Doc Zeke is, as Benny puts it, "The dwarf who made him the ork I am today." Just about every implant or treatment Benny has ever received was done by the Doc or by referral from the Doc. Doc Zeke isn't your normal street doc or dwarf, as most dwarves wouldn't saunter into the Skraacha control section of the Underground as frequently as he does, but he has deal with the Skraacha (probably for patch-up and wares) that keeps him relatively safe. He also frequents certain dens of inequity around town. A peculiar rumor sometimes mumbled in the Underground is that the Doc actual has a thriving legit medical practice somewhere in the nicer part of Downtown, but if this is true, he keeps the details of his double life a better secret than any runner Benny has ever met. Either way, Benny doesn't really care. The Doc has patched him up and supped him up more times than he can count, so he's alright in Benny's book. In fact, the Doc has exchanged favors with him in the past. On two occasions the Doc has contacted Benny to help get angry pimps off his case. Most recently, Benny had the Doc implant him with an Adrenal Regulator, in hopes it would help him better keep his mean streak in check when it matters. The last thing he needs a Lucian situation with another runner.

Lucian Leblanc, Rival Runner (Elven Physical Adept, Knife-Fighter, B&E Specialist)
Lucian Leblanc is an elven European immigrant and physical adept with a penchant for knife-fighting, as well as industrious breaking and entering. Benny worked with him a few times at the very beginning of his running career a few years ago, and never really liked the guy. However, the mutual animosity between the pair didn't begin until a research lab vault job they were both selected to do. The job itself went fine, except that one guard with an abnormally good work ethic managed to catch sight of the duo during their exit and gave chase clear across town. The guard was apparently arrogant (as he didn't call for back-up) and quite bigoted, as he made repeated slurs in Benny's direction. Eventually losing his cool, Benny scuttled his own bike into the bigot’s truck, sending him careening into a nearby lamp post and undoubtedly into a trauma ward sometime after that. Unfortunately, while this didn't impact the mission at all, it was more costly than just getting a new ride. Unbeknownst to Benny, Lucian had stolen some extra tech from the vault, as a way of getting a little something extra on the side, and stowed it away in Benny's ride without telling him. When Benny took out the bigot, he cost Lucian a nice score and the elf has never forgiven him for it. Likewise, Benny was none-too-pleased to realize Lucian had put the stolen tech in his ride in the first place, as the adept had clearly done it to ensure that in the event of something going wrong, Benny would take the heat for it. The two are now known by all their mutual associates as "incompatible rival runners".

Eli Evans, Licensed Armed Security Guard
Eli Evans, according to his SIN is a licensed armed security guard currently working for an operation in Downtown Seattle called "Ergometric Expansions Unlimited". He has two vehicles registered to his name (a motorcycle and a sedan) and rents a small place in Renton. He has one warning for excessive force on-the-job and two traffic citations on his record, though the fees were paid. His license as armed security guard was first issued three years ago and was renewed last year. His employment prior to his current job was spotty, but since obtaining his license his shopping habits have increased substantially. At the request of his employer, Evans applied for and received permits to augment himself to better serve as a member of the companies security personal. He was turned down for a promotion to security chief last month. Employer records state the reason for the turn down was "typical trog attitude issues", along with a report of an on-the-job scuffle with a fellow employee.

Bradley Brown , Licensed Bounty Hunter
Bradley Brown, according to his SIN is a licensed bounty hunter and bond agent working freelance in the greater Seattle metropolitan area. His last formal employment contract was a year ago, when he was on retainer for a bond company called "Xenobond CLXV", which was bought out by a Renraku subsidiary, resulting in a disgorgement of all the companies standing contracts. He has one vehicle registered to his name (a motorcycle) and rents a motel room in Redmond, on a by-the-day basis. Prior to Xenobond being absorbed, he was renting a Downtown apartment. He has a colorful but also fairly typical record (for a bounty hunter): several citations, a couple of arrests, and a one-year term of imprisonment. His license as a bounty hunter was first issued four years ago, but was revoked as part of his term of imprisonment. Current license was reapplied for and granted a little more than a year ago. He requested and was granted permits for several augmentations, citing "high risk job field" as the reason for applying. He has numerous successful bounties on record, however, nothing major since the Xenobond merger.
Type of Missions - Well Benny has no talent for magic or hacking, so he wouldn't be well-suited or have much to do on those type of mission, save perhaps providing body guard service, which is actually fine be me. I really don't have a preference for mission/run type, just so long as there is stuff to do of some sort and the story stays interesting.

Why Work Together - Nature of the beast, Benny can't really do it all and generally speaking, serious runs take people of diverse skillsets to pull off.

Edit: Fixing typos.

Couldn't post the sheet in the same post as the background and such, too many characters.

Edit: Oops, forgot, I am currently not participating in any other game, though I am on the wait-and-see list on another game. I was going to be in a game on another site, but the GM vanished after one in-game post. So... yeah. Anyway, I shouldn't have much problem meeting any posting requirements that aren't too demanding (but if at some point you decide to outright require more than say... a post-a-day, I'll probably not be able to keep up with that... RL and all).

Thanks everyone for your interest!

Recruitment will be open through the end of the day. So if you haven't expressed your interest yet, there is still time.

I am starting a review of all candidate entries and will be asking for some clarification.

I am starting an OOC thread for the game for accepted players to begin posting in.

Sorry for the delay.

Jenever used to be the captain of a Dutch trading vessel. That meant most of his work was maintaining the ship via the various drones and manning the weapons of the ship to protect it from the aggressive toxic spirits and the pirates of the north sea.

To make a little extra money he got involved in smuggling drugs on the vessel he was controlling.
Well how things go if you decide for the wrong side, you get bad karma. Bad karma in this case meant he got caught and spend two years in a Dutch prison.

After being released he left the Netherlands to go to Seattle to leave his past behind and start new.
He bought a bison and some drones at a local fixer and now tries to start a new carrier/live in the UCAS.

Since his prison time he got a problem with alcohol. He tries to control it but it more and more starts to control him. He also got some debts at the fixer that he will need to repay asap.

His contacts are the fixer Vegas(who lent him the money) and the nice Chinese neighbour(Mr. Zheng triad soldier) at the trailer park where he parks his bison over night. As a good Dutchman he likes camping anyway and lives in his bison.

He will work with everyone if he gets paid but he probably needs Vegas to bring him in contact. Karma became important to him so he won´t do everything for money.

Edit:
he is obviously a drone rigger and needs matrix support since this isn´t his strong side.

Hehe, Sorry about not having replied. Work caught up with me and I almost system crashed (not nearly bad neough for a doctor, but I am sick right now), but I'll definitely get that paragraph about the Crank Shaft bar and grille up for you here today or soon. I do hope you're still watching this thread at least DR. I'll be trying to watch the actual play thread to keep up.
