Hopelessly Naive in your face Attitude ..... CHECK
Mountain Dew (can`t get Jolt Cola over here )... CHECK
Chocolate covered coffee beans (gaming snack of choice, I was addicted to those back then, seriously try em) ...... CHECK
ok where the Track List  :(
What 10 tracks would you recommend to capture the 80`s? Two that come to mind has to be Adam Ant - Stand and Deliver or Kim Wylde- Kids
 in America.
On a random question for the oldies can anyone remember an early 80s song video back when Ray Cokes was the face of MTV sort of pre gothy of a load of perky goth types dancing around a throne room heavy on the drums. Its bugged me on and off for years that I cannot remember the track even.
An Awful lot of people believe a lot of very strange things indeed for no valid reason I can see. They can`t all be right but it is quite likely they all can be very wrong.

Ugh

Pretty in pink ( Phychadelic Furs)
Peek a boo (Suzie and the banshees)
Under the milky way (the church)
Hot hot hot (the Cure)
Dancin with myself (Generation X/ Billy Idol)
People are strange (Echo and the Bunnymen)
If you leave (OMD)
Funk cold medina (Tone Loc)
Walk this way (Aerosmith and Run DMC)
It's a sin ( Pet Shop Boys)

If it were my track I'd leave out funky cold medina, but it's definately 80s.

Here is a rather chaotic list that sums the 80's up for me pretty well

1. Welcome to the Jungle - Guns'n'Roses
2. Paradise City - Guns'n'Roses
3. 99 Luftballons - Nena
4. Rock You Like a Hurricane - Scorpions
5. We're only gonna Die - Bad Religion
6. Kill the Poor - Dead Kennedys
7. Straight to Hell - The Clash
8. The Magnificent Seven - The Clash
9. Ace of Spades - Motorhead
10. Mr. Roboto - Styx

Ten Tracks to Highlight the 80s:
Duran Duran - Hungry Like the Wolf
Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus
Billy Idol - Rebel Yell
Culture Club - Karma Chameleon
Living Colour - Cult of Personality
Bon Jovi - Bad Medicine (featuring Sam Kinison for the extra dose of 80s)
Guns N' Roses - Welcome to the Jungle and a bonus Sweet Child O' Mine
A-Ha - Take On Me
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)

And a bonus:
Europe - The Final Countdown
Next time you're down on your knees, and you're expecting a slap, it might be me in that mask, and I just might have a bat.

Depeche Mode was the official soundtrack of the game I was in set in 2073, lol.

I like Joy Division and The Cure as well.

Well, the 80's or Shadowrun? Because, you know ... different.

But if I blend 'em, let's see...

Only one way that you can POSSIBLY start this list.

Twisted Sister, I Wanna Rock
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRwrg0db_zY
(Bonus points if you spot a young Kevin Sorbo in it!)

Jane Child, Don't Wanna Fall in Love
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWd__w5UWVc
(This was on teh radio the year after Shadowrun released and had a PERFECT look.)

Ah Ha, Take On Me
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djV11Xbc914

Eurythmics, Sweet Dreams are Made of These
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJE_Sc1Wags

Van Halen (Starring Dr Roxxo, the Rock and Roll Clown), Jump
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AX7dSsZDPUs

Ratt, Round and Round
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0u8teXR8VE4

Michael Jackson, Beat It
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ym0hZG-zNOk

Billy Idol's Rebel Yell would go here, but the video seems to have vanished from online. Weird.

Men Without Hats: Safety Dance
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjPau5QYtYs

Run DMC, It's Tricky
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-O5IHVhWj0

Only room for one more, but I have two in mind, so... let's see what happens when I squoosh 'em together?

(There was a great battle in the early 80's, pitting electric guitar against synth... guitars won.)

So long as we're discussing music, and 1989, and Shadowrun, and Seattle...

Operation: Mindcrime, by Queensr˙che.

A heavy metal record by a Seattle band from 1988, one of the best concept albums ever. The 'R˙che symbol even featured in several Shadowrun art pieces, back in good old SR1 days. (Bradstreet, SR1E Rulebook, pg. 23, the full Mindcrime logo.)

IMHO, heavy metal is much more cyberpunk than New Age. (As much as I love New Age bands.)

To spin slightly, some two-tone ska fits right in there. I mean, Madness?

Any song/band that CAUSED AN EARTHQUAKE IN ENGLAND gets props like few others, you know?

(Quoting here)
VF: Surely your best festival moment must be at Madstock in Finsbury Park when your fans caused a mini-earthquake, hitting 4.5 on the Richter Scale?
Suggs: "That's very true, yeah. It's very high up on my list of favourite achievements. We'd kinda broken up in 1988, for various reasons, primarily because we'd run out of steam and weren't as popular as we were and all the usual sort of things. But then 1992 came and we had a bit of a comeback, our Greatest Hits went to number one and it was mooted that we should do a tour. But I didn't really want to do it. I thought about doing a one off 'thank you very much, great that you still care about us' show. So we met Vince Power (founder of Mean Fiddler) and he had all the fences set up after Fleadh or something and he asked us if we wanted to do a day in Finsbury Park. It was the first time we'd opened a gig with 'One Step Beyond', and it's a fairly up-tempo song, so there were about 45,000 medium to large middle aged men all jumping up and down at the same time.
(No more quote!)

Baggy Trousers might not be quite so "Rebel on the school yard" as it once was, but.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJOLwy7un3U

Going back to post'81 stuff, Duran Duran can't be underestimated. Shame that I can't get a copy of the correct video for "The Reflex", but.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDnNF5cHCdo

They also gave us Hungry Like the Wolf, which is a video that the creators of Venture Brothers drew from for the Season 2 opener.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOg5VxrRTi0

Adam Ant, another part of teh Second British Invasion. Note his back-up girls' make-up.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o41A91X5pns

Which gave rise to Prince and the Revolution.
(Who I can't link to because he doesn't want his music on YouTube)

Who gave rise to Morris Day and the mother-fraggin' TIME.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDpcDjxWt9Q

(And if you haven't watched Purple Rain yet, go to Netflix and fire that sucker up, stat! TRUST me on this one.)

Scandal, The Warrior. Note the attire! Kind of a Razorgirl-Street Sam vibe going on.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDuWFYOTyqA

Pat Benatar, Love is a Battlefield, AKA the story of a young girl who winds up in a Bunraku Parlor.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjY_uSSncQw
(Famous for being the first video where dialogue was put in over the song.)

Wait. How have we not handled Thomas Dolby yet? She Blinded Me with Science!

Speaking of, just saw them live.

The new Station Wagon stats (Which can easily go into SR2050, BTW!) makes me want to play "Tailgunner" in more than one way.  ;D
