Oh and I have been reading that rule...not sure I understand exactly what you are upset with. The natural DP maximums?
There is a special rule about charisma linked skills(p.130). With Tailored-Pheromones, Kinesics and especially the empathy software you can increase your social dicepool quite a lot (alltogether would be +12). But on that site it says, your Cumulative positive Social Modifiers may not exceed the character’s combined natural Attribute + Skill Ratings. So a character with CHA 3 and skill 2 would be capped at another +5 bonus from those sources.

A stupid, knee-jerk reaction to pornomancers. That's like capping dice pools in combat because someone makes a combat monster.

I don't see a big difference between shadowrunners and mercenaries and am quite interested in what will happen...

Quote
What Runners Do
Shadowrunners commit crimes, usually for money. When a corporation or other sponsor needs someone to do dirty work, they look to the shadows. As “deniable assets,” runners make advantageous—and expendable—tools.

This is a highpower campaign. 485BP + 40BP on base skills + some free Gear. Thats beyond prime runner status.
The task seems difficult, but we are experienced and the payment is excellent. I really don't see whats there not to like.

There's actually a big difference, Lethe, though there's certainly some who play both fields. Mercs tend to get jobs that are more this style, because they are more likely to have milspec weapons and tactics. Shadowrunners are more covert action than 'storm in and kill everyone'. They actually go into some detail into the difference in some of the older books. Fields of Fire is a good choice for the basics on what a mercenary is.

I agree with the more stealth aspect, but when we accept, its more or less our choice how to deal with it.
We already agreed on not blwing up the building, because none of us wants this. We don't have to kill everyone. There are other distractions than blowing up buildings and massmurdering cops. And i'd rather go in there without anyone noticing. The real task is stealing, not killing. Though we all know, we can't always prevent it.

Yes, it is a challenge, but without it would be boring :-)

Edit: Since we get some money upfront, there is no harm in doing some research. Observe the building. Getting information on everyone who is allowed to enter, if anyone at all. Maybe Ares and KE are just hired as front door guards, who wouldn't even be allowed in there themselves. As soon as we are in there, it might be easy. After we get more information on whats going on, have collected backdoors and security codes, we could plan whats necessary to get in there. And if we then decide to not do it, because it might seem impossible, we could just sell the collected information to Gerrard. But quitting now without really knowing anything.... you are ruining your street cred ;-)

I would try it, even if its impossible, after all its just a game and i'd like to see how far we can get.

As my IC post whittered about, not even mercs could do this by blowing up the front door...Ares would nail them...this is a stealth op and short of hiring special forces, elite shadowrunners are the best at stealth, at least that's how I see it.  Shrike's game...but then she can't technically die (kinda), she died once already though...

So Mirikon...you going to make a new character that would join us on this run?  Looks like we don't have the original 8 active and it will take more than a handful of us to do this :)

No I'm just super busy moving still. We had to move all the stuff out of storage from here to another city and THEN we got to start doing the house stuff. All in all I should be set to devote more time to this then I am now in a month or so.

Problem is all the boxes we need  ;D
