Pool of Radiance isn't in the set.

That's a good thing.

Thoughts?

Mass Effect + skins = Shadowrun.  Alien/metahuman races, a good mixture of tech, guns, and "magic," assassins, rogue cops, mercenaries, crazy doctors, gene-tweaked perfectionists...what's not to love?

I've been saying for years, all we need are the right mods/skins for the Mass Effect series, and we've got a Shadowrun game 99% done.  ;)  The ME games have everything I love about Shadowrun, so it's just natural for me to love the ME games.
Don't forget Jack. If she ain't a shadowrunner, slap some tusks on me and call me Bull.

Then she needs a pink 'hawk.

Or maybe leave it her regular colour and dip it in the blood of her enemies.  ;D

Except blood dries into a rusty red-brown color, not pink.

Am I the only one who prefers ME1 to ME2?

When I buy a RPG game I expect just that and I got it with ME1.  I then bought the second one and expected much the same, instead I got a RPG with a lot of the roleplay elements taken out.

What ME2 has that ME1 doesn't:

less skills to uprade and aquire
weapon shops where you can't buy weapons
a lack of customisation for the crew
a whole crew of dislikeable characters (not just Kaiden like in ME1)
only two of each type of weapon, forcing you to feel like you need to pay to download extra weapons
Asari who seem to have turned way too vivid blue and purple; shouldn't they be light blue
just one type type of armour (bigger and chunkier than the heavy armour from ME1) with pointless little perks (these gloves give you 3% increse to attack power)
Cannot heal the team (or yourself) until they are dead on the floor
Your wounds regenerate in seconds, making medi-gel pointless (this isn't GoW!!)
Terrible bad guys without a decent backstory and look like extras from Farscape
Not the best story in the world
Horrible (and easy) end boss battle (ok you could make Saren commit suicide but he was still better than a giant terminator)
No Mako
No exploration of planets
That damn planet scanner
Contradiction with ME1 about the Migrant Fleet
Contradiction with ME1 about Tuchanka
It does have Mordin though

C'mon Bioware, what were you thinking? ME2 kinda felt like the bit in Star Wars where Luke enters the cave on Dagobah, it doesn't make much sense and nearly ruins the entire film just like ME2 will ruin the series if Bioware don't go back to ME1 style for ME3 (ruin it for me at least).

Rant over  8)

Ok I guess rant not over yet.

Everyone comments on the asari, a race of females, but nobody seems to notice that every turian, Salarian, Volus, Elcor (maybe female but have male voices?), Batarian and Krogan you meet are male.

Why is the Migrant Fleet dirty in ME2 and the Quarians have to wear their helmets there when in ME1 it says that the only reason the Quarians have to wear the buckets is because they've been living on sterilised starships for a couple of centuries and their immune system cannot handle the dirt found outside the Migrant Fleet?

Why is Tuchanka a desolate city planet in ME2 when in ME1 it says that it resembles Earth during the Jurassic age, complete with giant lizards and such, and that the Krogan never had any sort of civilised society since they were primitive when the council races came along and gave them powerful high-tech weapons to kill each other?  They fought the Rachni and then were hit with the genophage but never built cities on Tuchanka, especially not covered it in one big city so it looks like a destroyed Coruscant.

What the hell are combat drones meant to do apart from be annoying glowing things that get stuck on low walls?

Not seeing Tali's face was frustrating but I've heard you'll see it in ME3.

Why have the council races started wearing face paint?

Also, it makes me slightly amused that Star Trek had a moral point that everyone is equal and should be treated so, be they black, white, male, female or even Vulcan but Mass Effect can't seem to get away from its stereotypes:
  • All Turians have a pole stuck up their arse
  • All Salarians are either scientists or con artists
  • All young Asari are either mercs or dancers
  • All Krogan just want to tear people to shreds (even their scientists only want to make bigger bombs)
  • All Volus are traders and bartenders with a nervous and/or malcontent disposition

Still looking forward to ME3.  Im the biggest Mass Effect fan you'll find, I've played the first one through 5 times and the second 3, but I just can't get over how disappointing ME2 was.

Now the rant is over  :P

1. Actually, There will be a female Krogan in in ME3 as a NPC.
2. Wandering in a fleet for centuries on end will make your ships a bit slipshod due to lack of proper parts for maintenance.
3 On Tuchanka: umm....might have been jurrasic at one point. I call it a screw up on the Dev's part.
4. Drones never have been very bright in the game....except for some reason, Tali's.
5. Face pain is there version of Makeup?
6. Mass Effect was designed to not be PC and nice and safe and half the galaxy is composed of Jerkass's in a pissing contest with each other. And it's not like Trek doesn't have the Planet of Hats syndrome

But atleast this time we might be able to go on Earth

Well, the Multiplayer thing is actuallya subprogram of ME3. What it is is a integrated part of the game int he you can play with people online in typical FPS fashion team matches and such, but what it primarily is a copoerative mission that multiple people can play to achieve objectives, score points and such.

Interestingly, playing these matches can actually feedback into the single player game and might make part of your missions on single player easier or havea somewhat different outcome. A concept I found rather interesting
