Now sure exactly how it'll turn out but I now have to do some legwork to find out if that was a deliberate homage to Harlequin in Cleopatra. That is freaky how close it is.

Yeah, I tried doing some searching when I saw that too - it's ridiculously close to Harlequin.

I think it's the other way around. Cleopatra outdates FASA's games by almost three decades.

Not true.

Oops, thought of the movie from the 60's rather than the TV series.

Let's face it, though - it's harlequin makeup, which is by far older than the Shadowrun character.  (Interestingly enough, 'harlequin'' parallels 'erlking' ... makes me wonder whether or not Jim Butcher is aware of that.  I know I wasn't.)  Whether (in Shadowrun) the makeup is done that way because that specific individual popularized it in French passion plays or just that he adopted it afterwards is a matter of conjecture; the character in Cleopatra 2525 MAY owe something to the SR character, but the SR character owes much of itself to the stock character, so you really can't say that Cleopatra 2525 took it from SR.

Jeeze.  It would almost sound stupid until you realize we're talking about an immortal elf clown sword fighting a dragon ghost in a mall.

That's what's under the coat, on the strap.  You don't always want to be showing your weapons ...
