I know that is the sad thing about the Media industry today.  I wish someone would do something new and creative.

I think part of the problem is that Hollywood doesn't want anything new and creative, so writers have to write rehash shit to get a gig as a writer in Hollywood... >:(

It's a shame as a forum we couldn't do a film.  I think we could do a decent one.

Hell, I'm half-tempted to start on one tonight! Or a TV-series. Hmmm...

What would the team be?
Based where?  Heck I might be able to help.

Well, I was thinking a 4-person team, because I think the dynamics work better with 4 (this is all just my personal opinion - feel free to comment otherwise - I'll listen, but I might not agree. I want to steer clear of all the weird-ass variant meta-types, and just stick to "core" metahumans. I'd also want to steer clear of any overly-specialized characters for the main 4. My thinking being (for both of these) that the weirder types can make good Contacts (recurring roles, but not in every episode) and adversaries. Don't want to flood the audience with all-out-weirdness straight out of the gates. I like to think of this approach as the BBB. You start with the main rulebook, and bring in the supplements as the series progresses.

It's tempting to set it in Seattle, because, far and away, Seattle has the most written about it, and even a casual player knows a thing or two about Seattle. I'd probably set it around the timeline of the beginning of SR4, for the same BBB reasons listed above.

Maybe this should go in it's own thread? That's if anyone is interested...

So this was a conversation in the Bladerunner thread.  anybody have any ideas?

I personally would have to agree, a shadowrun series would have to take place in Seattle.    More than likely the main character would have to be either a street sam, or some form of Magic user.  probably a Human Face as well.

A shadowrunning mage? I have the perfect one!  ;D

On a more serious note, maybe make the old Sega game into a series.

I don't know, building walls would be cool, but firing fireballs would be cooler.

Yeah, Mason doesn't feel the need to hurl around fire when he can just dangle you over a ledge or destroy the entire building you are in. Pure, focused power or intense spells requiring lots of focus are more his MO.

Hence why he wouldn't be my first choice.  I think they would need a more "hardcore" mage, more like Dresden than Mason.

I think telling it from a human, more than a metahuman, viewpoint is going to be one way to engage a wider viewer base. We want someone that the audience is going to have no troubles with - someone that they can easily slip into the "character" of.

With my "basic 4", I'd want to have 4 of the metahuman races; I'm thinking Human, Elf, Dwarf and Ork/Troll - I'm not really sure how I'd go for the last one - I'll see how the ideas solidify in my head as we go along.

As for roles, we need Guns, Magic, Matrix, Vehicles and Personality - so a Face, a Rigger, a Hacker, a Shaman/Mage and a Merc/Sam/Weapon Specialist. Yes - I know that's 5 - I can count - just saying these are the roles.

If you're going to have Sukie, I highly recommend Moon Bloodgood for the role.

Well, since we would do a series, what about before she became the badass she is.  Since no runner goes it alone, who would be on her team?

I haven't forgotten about this - been giving it a bit of thought, but haven't really had time to flesh it out - RL reared it's ugly head, and took away my weekend (my boss sliced her finger up - long story short, my 3 days off this week have become working days, meaning I'll be doing 8 days straight before I get a day off). When (if) I get two days to rub together, I'll chillax and see what I can put into black and white.

So what timeframe are we talking about?  I figure post crash 1.0, but are we going to do pre or post crash 2.0?

I'd say just a little before Crash 2.0, at least for a few Arcs.  Lets face it, the fallout of the Crash 2.0 are too juicy and fucked up to resist and that's leaving out the shitstorm that came of people's reactions to Technomancers.

I'd say somewhere around 2058-2060. Gives plenty of time to play around pre-Crash before you jump the plot up to the Crash. Let people get used to things before you violently uproot it all!
