The rules on the human meta variant contradict themselves, "skin color and an additional set of upper limbs" One addition set of arms for a total of four arms and total of 6 limbs in all. And then it says "the few six- or eight-limbed mammal" where is this 8 limbs coming from?

Prefer to see what other players have done with this. Four arms or six  arms, any noticeable difference game play wise? Never seen anyone play this metavariant.

Page references are always appreciated when asking questions about a specific line of text.  Luckily, what you're referring to was fairly easy to find ;)

The nartaki metavariant resembles
the sapiens base type with the exception of a
variable skin color and an additional set of upper limbs.
These appendages are fully functional and make the
nartaki one of the few six- or eight-limbed mammals,
something becoming more common but still very rare.

Ok so there's nothing there saying there are 6-armed nartaki out there.  As you noticed, nartaki have one extra set of arms for a total of two sets for a total of 4 arms.  Added to the 2 legs humans normally have, that's 6 limbs.

The last sentence is saying, put another way:

"This number of limbs makes nartaki stand out among mammals, of which it is one, because mammals usually only have 4 but since the awakening sometimes have 6, or even 8, limbs!"

It's saying mammals other than nartaki sometimes have 8 limbs, not nartaki.
RPG mechanics exist to give structure and consistency to the game world, true, but at the end of the day, you’re fighting dragons with algebra and random number generators.
