I'm planning a series of runs set, initially, in Atlanta (in SR5e), and am fairly certain that I'd have to alter the legality on weapons availability. Similar to how all guns are Forbidden in London & Neo-Tokyo, except in the other direction.
Since neither I nor the players have much background info on the CAS, I'm guessing that all pistols, shotguns, and Single-Shot rifles would be fully legal, but would require an Open Carry permit for each type of gun (or you could possibly cover them all by getting a fake bounty hunter license). Similarly, you could mount these on drones and tell Lone Star they're in case a juggernaut decides to take a nap on the interstate. Anything capable of burst-fire is still Restricted, and Forbidden guns are still Forbidden. If you're entering a clearly delineated No Guns Allowed Zone, you're expected to either leave your guns at home or at the check-in, where you can pick them up as you leave.
I was wondering about the implications of this. Would that encourage more use of Pistols/Longarms, or would it not matter if you can just concealed-carry your Steyr TMP or Ingram? Though I do admit, to my players, it'd sound like fun for everyone to carry around a perfectly legal sawn-off.
Also, am I wrong and is there some rule in some book that says what the law really is? Mainly in case it'd work better than my half-hoop homebrew.
