If it helps at all, Crossbow, I tend to be all about the rules myself. It breaks my heart to have to use a single house-rule - I trust the game designers to have done the right thing. And with a group of people that I knew, and were sitting face to face with, I'd just tell them to employ Wheaton's Law and that'd be that, but with an ad hoc group, online, well, you never know what you'll get.
