"Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written." Lucas 21:21
--------------
Seattle, June 5th, late afternoonThe little graveyard somewhere in the barrens had accumulated once again a light dusting of sooth, grime and the occasional empty beer can and chips bag. No matter how often Slobber had come here and cleaned the laser engraved brass plaque, it always looked as if nobody had been around since the day they died.
The sun had decided to blink in and out between clouds and city smog.
Since most resting places here where cheap urns, the graveyard at least had no ghoul problem - small mercies. So Slobbertooth could sit still and wait for Kazuya to appear without having to worry about these kind of predators.
When his eldest friend and fixer appeared, Slobber got up to be greeted first with a firm hand shake, followed by a hug.
For a long minute they stared at the brass plate. Finally Kazuya broke the silence.
"So you finally did it. After all those years, you found and killed the one responsible for their murders. Only five minutes ago it made the news. They found Eliza Thorin shot dead in her son's house. Lonestar also has sent out a search and arrest memo for two female humans, one ork, one troll and an elf. KE has so far not acted. Conflicting jurisdictions I imagine." He made a pause.
"I've always told you I'd stay with you for that, but you and your friends really need to lay low for a long while now. Such a high profile crime always comes with a very thorough investigation. Not to mention that the whole family is out for blood now. One of the twin daughters found their mother according to the news.
I've got to run now. There are a few things I need to take care of, but before I go I ask one thing of you: Don't go looking for more trouble in that direction. Your parents are avenged, but whatever else they wanted from life, most of all they wanted that their only child would grow up healthy, happy and whole. I can't imagine that taking more lives will achieve any of that." ---
In the following days, more and more fallout began to appear: Lonestar had a full APB out for the team, based on their short stint as kitchen helpers and their visit on the retired police man's island. Speaking of which: Gordon Wilcox, the helpful retiree had been taken into custody and hadn't been released yet. The whole staff of Valmont's restaurant had also been questioned, followed by two arrests: A previously convicted computer criminal was charged with tempering with the security clearance list and her friend, the barkeeper for trying to help her flee.
Benjamin Thorin and his remaining family had made a public appearance on trideo to condemn the murder and promising a bounty of 50k for information pertinent to the apprehension of the fake catering staff.
All in all, life in Seattle wouldn't become boring anytime soon...
