To match the advantages of using a smartlink for firearms, I'm putting together a new technique for melee weapons.

EXTENDED ARM
Many long hours has forged a connection between you and your weapon. Increase the accuracy of a melee weapon specialisation or specific exotic weapon by 1. This technique cannot be chosen for Unarmed. Examples: axes, swords, hammers, monofilament whip etc.

Please share your thoughts ^^

What martial art should get it? Would you suggest to widen the list of techniques per martial art to implement your suggestion? What about martial arts that do not focus on melee weapons?

Awww man,  I came in here thinking someone was making a MA technique for an extendable limb.

Go Go GadgetStretchKarateChop!!

Still it's not a bad idea, you are raising the accuracy to reflect you are better with what you got, but I guess the question is if you are comparing this with smartlink are you able to do this any weapon in the category which just makes it a bit of an upgraded specialization or just specific weapons that you personally have forged that connection with, that particular style of katana- so if you lost it you could replace with a similar model but couldn't claim it for a bastard sword?

Do you believe in a greater WIRELESS, an Invisible(WiFi) All Seeing(detecting those connected- at least if within 100'), All Knowing(all online data) Presence that we can draw upon for Wisdom(downloads & updates), Strength (wifi boni) and Comfort (porn) or do you turn your back on it  (Go Offline)?

I was thinking about implementing it as one of the "universal" techniques, available to anyone trained in martial arts. Pretty much like Strike the Darkness or Neijia.

Was that a single sentence? :P They both go into the Swords specialization so they both gain benefit from it.

I like it. Unless you've got access to magic, there aren't a lot of ways to raise melee weapon accuracy. Personalized Grip and ... that's it, right?

I could actually see this as a multi-level technique with 3 grades. Advanced/Expert/Master [Specialization] Training. Each gives you a +1 to the accuracy with the given weapon. 15 karma for a three level accuracy increase? I dig it.

15 karma for +3 ACC is way too good, considering the magic equivalent is +1, period, forever.
Playability > verisimilitude.

Attune Item is what, 5-6 karma for functionally unlimited +Accuracy on a melee weapon? And then combine with Imbue Item for Alliance and you're getting 2x Initiative Grade in +Accuracy? All for two Initiations and 10-12 karma, which means a minimum of +4 Accuracy. Also, the Adept Power Enhanced Accuracy applies to the whole skill, instead of just one specialization, making it already better than this. And if we want to get truly crazy, what about Increase Gear Limits from Street Grimoire, which can easily net you an increase in limit of 2 or 3 and more if you specialize in it. It's also a spell that works at Force 1 + reagents, so you can sustain it pretty easily.

Magical archetypes have wicked awesome methods to up their accuracy. Mundanes have crap. I don't think this really is a big deal.

I could see restricting this to each grade has to come from a separate martial art.

Alliance and Attunement don't go together. This combination is explicitely spelled out as not working ...
Maybe I should put it into a signature for I can't count the times I had to say this already.

Oh, whoa. That sentence is evidently not phrased for very good reading-comprehension if so many people miss it. Since it's not a negative, at a quick glance it looks like a positive.

Still, the point stands that with Alliance and Attunement, you have functionally unlimited +Accuracy for a given weapon for a one-time cost that's pretty low. The point is that a magical character has 4 methods to increase accuracy - two of which require initiation and then become functionally unlimited.

Presuming you could get the mages/adepts together for it, you could probably even Imbue a cyberdeck with Alliance or Attune it for an increase of Initiate Grade to all its limits. Not that awesome on the defense side, but pretty swank on the "which hits count" side.

Seems great for themed characters!
