Attributes v/s Race (Rigger)

Looking for opinions on some variable decisions I'm making for a character for Chicago Season 5.

All other things being equal.... Cash-A,  Skills-B,  Magic-E,  the big debate I'm working on is Attributes v/s Race & the 3 options I have.


1.  C-Ork-0  &  D-Attr-14
2.  C-Attr-6  &  D-Human-3
3.  C-Human-5  &  D-Attr-14


I forget the command to align these columns so I think this will be messy, but the variable stats come out to look like this.

Certain cyberware & Karma is a given.
Tricked out Rt.Arm,  Cerebral Booster-2,  Used-Reaction Enhancers-3
Gearhead for all & Edge-2 for the Ork.


I'm debating the better physical stats of the Ork v/s the extra Logic & Edge of the Humans, and then for the 2 Humans debating 2 Intuition v/s 2 Edge.


Thoughts & Opinions please, but I already realize its Min-Maxed w/ dump stats, what can I say, its a Rigger, he won't be "Running" anywhere.

If you are not concerned about running then why don't go dwarf? It is a kind of a middle ground between options 1 and 2. And I would choose a metahuman C attributes D for a rigger any day. I am surprised that your reaction is so low though, reaction and logic are the most important stats for a rigger.

I would also recommend pucking a dwarf. Dwarf pretty much gives you free attribute points (covers Body and Strength, partially covers Willpower) which makes it possible to actually fit everything you need into D attributes.

Hmm, I hadn't thought about Dwarf.  I'll look into that option & compare.  As for why, I avoid those Lifestyle cost penalties when I can, unless I'm having to create Troll Mountain for a character.
The Edge & Resistance however could be interesting. 

Following the same basic concept it would look something like this.....

Okay, that is a worthy 4th option to look at for sure.

As for the reaction thing, He's a Drone-Swarm Rigger v/s a Race Car Driver, so combining that with VCR bonuses & the Enhancers makes me think most of his rolls will be doable even on a mid level dice pool.

I'd actually rate Logic and Intuition higher than Reaction. When jumped in, your target numbers are so low (due to the control rig) that you don't need much of a dice pool. The hit to Initiative and Defense can be compensated by a higher Intuition, that helps with more stuff besides. If you don't jump in, choosing to control drones via AR/VR or commands, then Reaction and piloting skills are more important, but other than chases and stunts, you'll be using Logic (or Agility) with Gunnery and Agility for Stealth. Point being, Reaction + Piloting skill will tend to come up rarely, though you may not want to go too low as those edge cases may prove critical (especially chase scenes). Basically, a Reaction of 3 is probably adequate, and I'd probably take Wired Reflexes (at a lower rating) over Reaction Enhancers for the bonus to meat Initiative, unless you spend the vast majority of your time in VR.

Unless you plan you plan to do stunts from a Michael Bay movie, Reaction 4+ (after 'ware) with a rating 2 rig should allow you to do 95% of things with ease. Drone swarm riggers probably do not need to jump in too often, as you can remote control your mini army without needing to.

Dwarf setup looking like the best option to me, though maybe wired reflexes instead of synaptic so they stack.

Made a few tweeks & added in some of the purchasing items at the bottom.
Should have better Reaction for most now, I was used to pushing Intuition for the Perception bonus but he'll mostly be using Sensor Ops.

The Attributes, Contacts, CyberArm (& Skill) vary a bit for each..
I'm leaning towards the Dwarf or Human-A but left the Ork & Human-E in there to compare.

For gunnery , will it work with a cyberarm? or would it take the lowest or average? Or is this solely for being jumped in?

Wired or Synaptic boosters on a rigger is a waste of money IMO.  You get you best bonuses in VR where they do you little good.  Reaction enhancers give the best bang for the buck for a rigger.

Also I noticed a small discrepancy.  National SIN is a 5 karma disadvantage, not 10.

I think he's growing on me too.  Though the one Human w/ Edge-5 is pretty solid as well.

No Wired or Synaptic.  The Arm & VCR suck up quite a bit of Essence & the Reaction Enhancers don't stack with Synaptic anyway.
Possibly get later if the Missions-5 Campaign opens up access to a cool Beta/Delta Clinic as a Reward or something.
But really as he sits now he's got 2 actions every turn.  It would be hard to get to 3 & hard to get less than 2.
I have not read anywhere that the CA is not compatible w/ Gunnery.

Human with 5 Edge has 1 nice bonus: You can afford to Blitz important fights for 4 extra Initiative dice, which means nearly-always 3 IPs. Against tough enemies (for example if you ever do Humanitarian Aid) you can then use Full Defense and still have 2 IPs available.

The Cyber Arm is not compatible with Gunnery through a Drone since Drone Gunnery uses Logic instead of Agility.

Gunning a manual turret would be completely viable with a Cyber Arm, though.

Only if you are controlling the manual turret with the one arm. Otherwise you would average attributes for using both arms.
