you can double tap him.  with a semi-automatic you can shoot twice in one IP.  Makes it more difficult for him to keep dodging the bullets.  And with a simple personalised grip, you can get rid of the recoil for the second shot.

Thank you for the reminder.  I edited my post for a second shot.  With only two hits I could have saved the ammo.  Still, he could roll poorly and take damage.

Defense roll by Snow, might want to abort to a full defense since your movement won't be enough to get you to where you can get a second attack.  Farothel you are up, Torley will be a round or two or actually three going around the outside to the back.

He was, he starts in the mid teens with that rifle.  I am AFB  right  now ,  but I think  I have posted the rifle damage code before  if that  helps .

No, you are in.  Your spirit lost, the other one is free now and is hanging out causing chaos.

Holy crap!  It would take some serious improvements to even get me close to that level.  Oh well, something to try for, I guess.  I will look at the fight on the road and see if the damage is listed there.  OK, the damage is 8P and AP-3.  Apparently I am not very prepared for this and only have armor 4 against ballistic. 

Resist Damage: 3d6t5 0  Well, that sucks.  Not only do I take 9 damage and go into overflow, but I glitched as well.  Hmmm, not too good.  I think an Edge is clearly needed here. 

Edge roll for resisting damage: 3d6t5 1  OK.  It looks like I stopped one damage so am only unconscious.  Better than in overflow, I guess.

Since I don't know the other mage is dead, I can only assume that this is on his command.  So I'm going to start hitting the other spirit in order to get it back to where it came from.

EDIT: post send out.  I'm going for the simple solution: blast it back into its own metaplane.

@Mercy Merchant: as soon as we get karma and some money, you can get started (I'd say buy an armoured vest and a form-fitting half body suit as that gives you armour 10 vs ballistic for only 1800 nuyen).  But just as a question: do you only have body 2?  with AP-3 and armour 4 against ballistic, it gives body +1 for the resist roll.
