So these two groups look like they are complements, same thing as Manabolt/Stunbolt trees being complements. The only difference should be that one does Stun Damage, the other does Physical damage. These two groups are also complements of eachother, since one group is Mana Spells, the other are Physical spells.

So Punch and Shatter trees are physical spells. But for some reason, Punch is Indirect, but Shatter is Direct.

....Why? Shouldn't Shatter/Powerbolt/Powerball also be Indirect?

Also, how exactly does an indirect touch spell work? Unarmed Attack vs. Reaction + Intuition to touch, then Spellcasting + Magic vs. Reaction + Intuition for the spell? That seems weird that they could dodge twice.

There's been a debate on those before, you'd want to check that one out.

The end result of the discussion is pretty much, we don't know.  Go with what makes your game work better.  I'm for reducing the number of roles while keeping the damage in the same range as other spells and have the initial defense test apply twice, once vs the unarmed attack, and again vs the spellcasting test..  Others go with reduced roles in that you get 1 defense test vs the unarmed and none vs the spellcasting test as you already hit, others give 2 separate defense tests the 2nd one at -2 die as it is the 2nd attack dodged.  It was weeks ago, so good luck finding the discussion if the search gives up too much stuff to be useful.
