Concept: Saito is from a long family history of defending humanity from evil kami (Japanese spirits). (How this worked before the Awakening is a story for another time). In the late 19th and 20th century, the family fell on hard times as scientific thought replaced traditional beliefs. Since the Awakening, his family's skills are needed once again. Saito was trained both as a warrior and as a Shinto priest. His family bestowed a 700 year old magical katana upon him to aid his fight. He came to [game city] about ten years ago, and fell on hard times. He has had to work as muscle for the Yakuza to pay gambling debts, and eventually became a Shadowrunner. This does not make his family happy, and he is definitely a black sheep, but they have not disowned him or demanded the sword back yet.
