i've been playing with chummer recently and can't come up with nearly the same stats in BP mode(400), as I can in Karma mode(750). so tell me, am I doing it wrong?

The two methods of character generation work differently and emphasize different things - the curved costs of karma tend to favour generalists, while the flat costs of BP tend to favour specialists.

Yeah, what he said.  This is why the thread about BP character creation math exists.  The BP system promotes building for bp-karma efficiency.  You do this but don't do that to avoid being wasteful.
