>>>>>[You might wanna look into Nanofaxing, Tekdrake. You won't be able to design them yourself but they should have a nice selection by now. An acquaintance of mine use that in combination with Vendingwear for cheap "fashion" on the spot. By the Jade Emperor, Vendingwear is the only thing worst than Flats. Personally, all my clothes are made of real fabric, about half of them custom made and about a quarter of it I made myself. Yes, I'm a man who sew, the little feminine side of my personality.

On a more tasteful note, I just received my custom made Feywear suit that I will use in concert as soon as the other receive theirs. And oh my, it is 1920 mafia don style with a small twist, hat and shoes included, and it is worth every nuyen!]<<<<<

>>>>>[Smiley, have you ever tried to lug a nanofax about? Without the benefit of a vehicle? Or at times, thumbs.

Sweet threads, though, and nice style. Might get a dress or suit made up one of these days if I can ever afford it. Drawback of being a changeling, a seamstress or tailor kinda remembers making adjustments for extra limbs or a tail whether cash or spoof. Let's just say I need to be circumspect about that side of town for a bit.]<<<<<

A group I knew, um, "back in the day", has stashes all over their land for various stuff they find useful when they need thumbs, like titanium knives (they don't rust or get dull) for skinning and clothing for selling to fur traders.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Can't say that I have, Tekdrake. I never used Nanofaxed clothing, all I know is that some peeps I know finds it handy for a quick change. Me I really never needed a fast change of clothes but I always have some spare ones in the trunk of my Westwind 3k or in the seat compartment of my Mirage. Well... that and sex toys. You never know when you need those! And being the boytoy of a fair amount of women in nearly every districts of Seattle have some advantages, I can always leave some behind for later use. Some clothes too, of course!

And for Feywear, yeah, expensive comes to mind but nuyens are just about half of what people think they cost. There's also a fairly exhausting binding process that comes with it and if you don't already have the "designer" in your pocket already, you might have to owe it a favor or two. That brings also the fact that you have to know or be introduced to one of these "designers" before you can even think about getting a set of these clothes. Ask me what we had to do to get ours!]<<<<<

>>>>>[Second generation, actually. Born in '32. And this has nothing to do with metatype, Wyrm. Education? Physical impairments with being able to use standard-sized gear? Sure. But those issues are not based strictly on metatype. And it certainly isn't an elven thing to appreciate language enough not to mangle it.

Wonder what it would take to get Horizon to expand some of its education programs to Redmond. From what I can see in the PCC, they're doing some good teaching less fortunate people (of all metatypes) basic literacy and skills that they can use for profitable careers, whether in the private sector or the shadows.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Oh, I don't know. Seems the uneducated orky isn't doing too badly for himself in terms of profit. Like all the rest of us, he knows what he needs to know to get the job done. The fact that you can't understand him easily is more your problem than his. Personally, I get nervous when media giants take an interest in the SINless. Besides that...even if Horizon didn't have ulterior motives, do you really think the SINless will be allowed to use the skills they acquire? Just knowing to read and write isn't going to bring very many opportunities your way, even if you didn't already have the tiny little problem of being illegitimate.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Never said I couldn't understand him. Just said it hurt to listen to. Being able to read and write might not open many more doors when you're SINless, but every door opened is another opportunity for profit and getting out of ghost-forsaken hellholes. Education isn't THE solution to poverty, but it does offer some people a way out. Especially once they have some marketable skills.

Awakened types and the hacker/techno crowd have the easiest time finding work once they get some education and training. And merc units are always looking for fresh talent. But a bit of education can go a long way, even in setting up a legitimate business. Knowing how to take apart a Roadmaster, fix what's broken, and put it back together again means you've got a steady stream of income just waiting for you.

But really, the reason you want a bit of education is that there are meets that happen in places where formal dress is mandatory, and getting past the maître d’ is damn near impossible unless you can both look and speak the part. Being able to 'get rid a' da aksent', combined with a nice suit means that the Johnson that would have passed on you for that gig guarding some pop princess will now take a second look. You can spout off all you like about not judging books by their covers, but we all know, or ought to, that presentation is a big part of being seen as a professional. Like it or not, that's how the game works.

Currently working the LA sprawl, though I visited a few times before the Crash and the Fall. Whatever else you can say about Horizon, they and the PCC have kept the Azzies from taking the place over. And their community service groups do help out in some of the hardest hit areas. Do they have ulterior motives for being seen publicly as the 'nice' mega? Doubtless. But they're better than the alternative. If given the choice between a Consensus and teocalis, I know who I'll turn to, every time.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Horizon scares me in a lot of ways.  We deal with the Corporations dirty laundry all the time, PayData is often stuff they don't want getting out.  Like Aztechnology and their use of Blood Magic.  Yeah, we know about it, but the general public doesn't.  Renraku had the AI that caused the Archology Incident.  And so on.  Horizon?  They got NOTHING.  Small-time stuff that's normal with any corporation above the size of Bob and his brothers.  Nothing on the Denver Data Haven, nothing on ShadowSEA, nothing on the DumpShock DataHaven, NOTH-ING.

That scares me more than Blood Magic and a Toxic Pixie Shaman that has a taste for my flesh.

As for Big Murphy, I've worked with four generations of Murphy's now.  They've all been professional and discrete, which is more than I can say for a lot of Muscle that comes out of the Barrens.  He just never lost his accent, and is far better read than I am at this point.  And I went to University.  If you can stand his manner of speaking, his comparison on Sun Tzu against Clausewitz is actually quite insightful.  I just wish he'd break down and buy a troll-sized keyboard so these arguments quit happening.]<<<<<
