2 players with next no experience looking to get into and learn to play SR.  I have the 4th ed book the other would need a digital copy if someone had it.  We both have experience with other rpg's and systems.

I'll piggy back this. I'm also looking for some skype (or variant) play.  not utterly new, but definitely not a grizzled SR veteran.

Tossing my hat into this as well.

Hey, since there's now four of us, what times are you folks looking to do games?

I'm good for Wednesday games at any time. Skype or another VOIP program would be my preferred tool.

And since we're all relatively new to SR, I think an experienced GM would be a good thing, yeah?

I would be interested in playing as well. I've been trying to find a proper shadowrun game for ages.

Sounds like Wednesday is the common denominator then. A few topics:

Time slot: I can't do before 7 PM EST on weeknights. Simple matter of most likely not being home from work.

Gameplay: Skype? Also, a question for the GM - Do you want us using any particular map/table/whatnot software?

Admin and Coordination: Do we want to continue to run admin and coordination off this site, or move to another site/medium? Meaning all the various down time questions, announcements, scheduling changes, and so forth.

Power level: I'm open to whichever, from streets to globetrotters. Preferences from the GM and others?

Mohawk-trenchcoat: I'm thinking not too far towards one extreme or the other,  leaning toward trenchcoat. Aka, there are human, organizational, and forensic consequences, but forgetting to remove your natural slough skin cells from the meet table doesn't mean your irrevocably toast.

Time Slot: Wednesdays are currently my day off, so any time of day is good for me

Gameplay: Skype is free, and is pretty user-friendly in terms of getting it to work.

Admin: I'm not sure about the rules governing this subforum, but keeping things consolidated in this thread would be the simplest, I think.

Power level: I'm personally partial to 400bp, since it creates characters that are powerful, but have weaknesses. Higher BP (Or Karmagen) turns us all into mini Fastjacks, at least from personal experience poking around in Herolab.

Mohawk-Trenchcoat: I'm leaning towards Trenchcoat with mirrorshades myself, but I'm still pretty new to the system, so whatever everyone else wants to do is fine by me, as long as it isn't -too- extreme.

Re: power level. 400 BP - a 400 BP character can be a freaking deadly 18+ DP in multiple fields if you make it so, and that's with a baseline human who is still pretty credible in other places. If you break the system, 400 BP can be a night unstoppable mage, a porno-mancer face, or the shooter who can gun down 2 trolls an IP while dancing through bullets, etc.  At the other end, you can create a "just a little better than  your next ganger" with 400  BP, or even "just picked up a gun yesterday. Bob told me if I help jack this liquor store, I'm in with his crew". Its not so much a BP thing as a "where does the GM/group want us" thing.

Understood on the power level thing, misunderstanding on my part.

I would suppose that mid-level is where I would want it. For example, a pornomancer face I built as a theory exercise wouldn't be one I would bring to the table, but I would bring in a character that's built around a personality concept, and stats were molded to make the concept happen.

LOL Wednesday at 7pm is exactly when my table-top SR group meets.  Do thursdays work?  I'm on Central Time.  I'd be totally down for GM'ing, been doing it a long time and I got a lot of my own material.

From personal experience, trying to power players down using BP isn't a good idea.  People just build 400BP-like characters and then totally neglect the aspects which aren't essential to combat or their specialty.  So the best thing is just to build 400BP characters and then just have a few house-rules.  The main one I can think of off the top of my head is I do use the optional rule for direct combat spells, which says that each die added to the damage adds 1 to Drain Value.  This still makes Stunbolt a one shot KO, but at least there's a little bit of moderation to it.

Hey, I was just trying to recruit for a game that would be on Wednesdays or Thursdays. I play in #s-run on the Undernet IRC servers. This is for a gang level campaign. The goofy little website I set up earlier today is http://seattlegb.wikispaces.com and the main website for the channel is www.s-run.com

I could get behind that. Especially since the group timeline doesn't match up with our other prospective GM. I leave it to the whole to answer.
