I was wondering, how common it is among gaming groups for your runners to:

A) have a uniform look, as a team, if not a kind of uniform

B) conceal their identities the old-fashioned way, i.e. faceplates, helmets, or ski masks. And if your team does this, is it a kind of helmet you prefer, or do you use the old school skimask route?

I wonder because I realized 2 of the 3 campaigns I've ran ended with the teams homogenizing their look, and I've never GMed for or played using a char that didnt have something over their face for smash / grabs, extractions, etc, except maybe 2 exceptions

Well, never played, nor does my group think this far.  One character in my group has a Gorilla mask he uses (Part of his backstory, and hobby if you'd believe it!), but that's it.

Most of my written characters have tricked out full-face helmets.  One in particular owes his life to one even before he started Shadowrunning.

Most of my characters have some option for concealing their face, if they need to. Spells are nice, for those who can use them. Nanopaste is fine, but expensive. I like the Death Mask from Attitude, myself, especially for low body characters. For my Street Sam, though, I have a suit of Red Samurai armor, which includes the helmet, for when he is expecting trouble. And one of my characters is the kind of hacker who stays in the heavily armored van, or finds herself a nice, concealed sniper's perch.

Depends on the job.  I do make sure when I play I use something to hide my face.  If the team is suited up for a all out fire fight, a helmet, is preatty much required.

I go with a Ballistic Mask; +2/+1, covers your face, and can take any helmet mod or vision mod.

Our current group consinsts of pretty "green" characters, so they all use simply ski- oder motorcycle-masks, toegether with One-Time gloves, etc. Nothing very special, but cheap stuff you can easily get and easily dismiss. Last time they bought some nanopaste disguises for scouting, etc. on enemy territory, where you can't go masked, but on the run, masks have to be enough.

My current group uses various means of disguise:

 - Social Adept Jaguar Shapeshifter with several appearance-altering powers.
 - The Rigger uses a Death Mask when out of his cocoon
 - The Mage uses a Guy Fawkes-Ballistic Mask
 - The Burn-out adept uses a JetBlack nanopaste facemask
 - The Former Company Man uses a non-descript Ballistic Mask

My guys usually make use of Physical Mask, Makeover, Fashion, and nanopaste, but every now and again they do break out ballistic masks, motorcycle helmets, ski-masks, scarves, you name it.

As to a uniform look, I've only seen that happen in two groups I ran: one adopted a street-mercenary work style, and started to use trademarks, including pseudo-uniforms. The other was a Go-Gang, so the themes were a given.

Uniforms can be extremely intimidating. You are well put together, you have a plan, you are trained. That is what uniforms convey to the opposition. You see a couple go-gangers on the road with weapons you aren't too worried about them. You see HRT on the side of the road moving as an organized unit of extremely deadly well equipped, uniformed individuals there is more to worry about.
