Not everyone does.  Some of us live in a place that doesn't allow civilians to own firearms above a certain quality due to their "Military" and "Aggressive" purposes.

On the bright side, Longarm Registry is dead and gone!

Not a stock SMLE, have to get the magazine modified (Or a new one) that only holds five rounds.

Also, Firearms Licenses are still required to get any kind of firearm in Canada.

There's also a lack of places to shoot it (I don't hunt), and the fact that I can't sight down a longarm.

What does surprise me, is that a lot of security or counter terrorist units use suppressed  AR or Carbines.
Some M4 verisons have short barrels and sound suppression integrated with the picatini 20mm rail
this kind of thing...

And for a good reason - they are loud as hell. You don't wanna cause a widespread panic, when you have to use them. People should stay in their offices and work, and not care.

There's also the fact that guns are deafeningly loud especially in enclosed spaces (such as buildings).  It's nice to have a sense of hearing both during the mission and over time.

Of course, it has to be replaced every 300 rounds, but it's cheap enough, or at least cheaper than the ammo you've just fired...

No one really bothers with that.   :-X

Most operators will use hearing protection on themselves, rather than the weapon unless the mission profile requires a suppressed weapon. Keeps your hearing intact, while causing havoc for your opposition.

Sound Dampeners are on almost all my characters for just such a reason.

...

Not that it matters.

If you were playing one of my games, it would. I tend to pull things like that out. I'm also the kind of GM who countered my players stealthy exit by using the backup alarm from the van they boosted. Details can kill ya!

True, but In this situation, if it's losing my hearing or being zombie chow....the ringing goes away...I hope. I also like to point out that the richochet in that could have also been just as fatal as a combie love-bite. Good thing the round cought on something in the tank, or at least that's what I like to think. I know that the technical advisor would NEVER overlook something technical like that. I mean he knew EXACTLY where the safety on a Glock was right?

mystic tanks have a kevlar liner called a spall liner.  Back  to the topic in hand, yes you can put a sound supresser on assault rifles.  Its actually kind of a smart Idea.  Not only will it make it harder to pin point you, but coming from personel experance fireing assault weapons inside of a building, is hell on your ear drums, even with ear plugs.
