I don't think the 10%/20% extension/reduction rule was meant to apply to the barrel as well so much as just be a quick and easy rule since that is what SR4 strives for.
I think this is really what we should assume for all SR rules. Why talk about 'real life' guns when we're talking about a world where dragon and fairies are real, owning corporations and running for office?
