So I have heard it mentioned a time or two of a PC haveing a company that helps them launder cash and holds a high level SIN makes getting liceness easier and so on.
How many of you out there do this and what kind of business would you recomend?

While Red Canti's is the traditional answer (because it works), any place where high volumes of money (overall and in any single transfer) is good.

Banks.
Stocks and commodities brokers.
Talismongers.
Alcohol - distilleries and breweries, bars, stores, all are good.
Auction houses.
Some charities.
Specialty schools.

that's a starter list.

The rigger votes for a vehicle repair shop (we look unsurprised)
The Sami wants a Gun World frachise
The hacker is already running a virtual software company
The mage wants a talismongers shop
The physaddept wants a Dojo
And I said a security company that is a comprehensive package of services on all fronts.

Of that list and again using money laundering as the underlying purpose, the only ones I like are the repair shop and the talismonger shop. It could be made to work with the franchise or the security company but it's actually a lot harder to make large deposits disappear. Virtual software companies are money sinks but laundering requires money coming out as well. And dojos... dojos are a vow of poverty.

Private Investigations Firm with a contractual obligation to not divulge the identity of their clients (Probably a license for that somewhere.).

All good suggestions, though for the most part the only two that really fits the 'help get licenses as well' portion is the bar/package store and the auction house.  You need a truly disgusting amount of startup cash for a bank, stock/commodities broker is primarily 'Trix-based and won't help you in the guns-guns-guns portion of the deal, etc. etc.

I like the last which you came up with; having reviewed my past characters, I'll say I was wrong when I said that I'd never thought of registering as a merc group.  The Wyrm has had a small hacker hardware/software company for the longest time, though admittedly it being illegal anyhow doesn't do much for being above-board.  Hawatari created ... something else.

Primary was a mostly-skateboard and -rollerblade Kourier Service (thank you Neal Stephenson) that also had motorcycle, auto, watercraft, and drone options.  Secondary, though, was an executive protection group which included the PCs and a dozen or so 'mercenaries' who did most of the typical work.  Praesidium Services was the name of the latter, and typically got used as the name of the team.  Considering the regular low-level money flow from the KS and the higher-level bodyguard cash from the latter, laundering 'run cash wasn't terribly difficult -- and the bodyguard services gave us a reason to have shops (enchanting, microtronics, vehicle, and weapons) on the premises, as well as a medical clinic, gun range, and martial workout room...

Any rules for these things?
I'm thinking being the owner of some sleazy bar is the same as a permanent low lifestyle? 100x2000 = 200.000Y. Maybe half of it on a mortgage, so for 100k you could be the legal owner of a bar? Would this generate income?

My team designed a garbage truck company. Our rigger wanted to retire his character so we had him buy a bunch of trucks and got the decked out with sensors and such. Used our contacts to have him pick up trash from small shops, some of them are fronts for the Yaks and such. His trucks have hidden compartments and it has different housings for different types of trash. He makes minimal money but it covers all of our lifestyles. We also have access to it in case we need to move some materials, say we pull a job and need to dump our guns and loot before we get picked up, we stop by a place we service and put our stuff in a specific bin and send the signal for it to come do a late night pick up. As they travel their sensors are giving us a detailed map of the entire city. Hooked up into gridlink with a system that is nearly complete electrical so it doesn't need fuel. Our runners don't have to spend time keeping up with the trucks since the rigger retired.

Started out as a simple garage to repair vehicles in. That reached financial stability when I started hiring talent from the local gang. Now I also have the benefit of not haveing to worry about inspectors who start raising questions about the security gear that gets stored there (they're a well organized gang in Miami. I also do repair jobs for them.) Since that shop could take care of itself I then branched out into an almost completely legitimate drone customization shop in Seattle (specialty Otomos). Since shadowrunning is a means of supplementing my income (especially since I can now send Otomos instead of myself) I've lately begun developing enough capital to consider expanding into europe or the native american nations. (any ideas)

while starting a business as a cover can have a few complications such as time taken up or authorities that might be looking a little too closely, there is one part that can really make it all seem very easy. You must build the business with the intent of letting somebody else run the damn thing. Find yourself an employee that doesn't mind a few back room deals every now and then. Make sure they understand the shop is yours, it's their job to run the simple day to day items such as book keeping (smart people watch these closely) and making certain that the other employees (yes more employees) do the jobs they were hired to do. You call this person a supervisor and pay him a little bit more.

If you're good enough, you could just put together a shop run by drones. Only overhead costs would be the price of repairs.

A small garbage removal company can make millions in the real world. *I looked it up, someone was selling their company for a lot of money and their yearly revenue was insane.* If you supply clean-up for small stores and construction, you can make a lot of money and reading the Seattle source book it reads that the big trash group deals mainly with the mega. The mobs have been forced out so they aren't going around dealing with the big guys any more. So you now offer to move trash for the mobs, they just have to pay for extra pick ups, you work with the legal fronts of mom and pop stores, you have your rigger make drones to sort the garbage and filter out anything of use. If people dump dead drones you have supplies, if someone has illegal stuff in their trash your sensors should pick it up and you now know. Your trucks are driving around scanning everything so you now have a good idea about the comings and goings of a lot of places in town. Your business is legal and your trucks are known to be automated so they are not suspicious to be driving down the road at 4am picking up trash. You can have a cache of weapons dropped off by a heavily armored vehicle at any spot in that district and all people will see is the truck missing a box of trash.
