Here is the first precursors to Technomancers I'm sure of it.

In summary, there is a town in West Virginia that has been designated a 'signal free zone' so that a deep space radar there can study the natural radiation that blankets the planet. A side effect of this is that people who suffer from 'electromagnetism sensitivity' can live here free of electromagnetic signals that they are somehow sensitive to. There is a woman there who knew that a visitor had a cellphone in his pocket, and pointed to the pocket directly when she mentioned it. She was able to sense the signal somehow.

In West Virginia?

She's lucky if they didn't burn her for a witch.  :P

I wonder if the outline of the phone gave it away...?
Power corrupts.
Absolute power is kinda neat.

I feel for the people that suffer from this kind of sickness, but sadly it's likely less Technomancers then a stress disorder. No one with electromagnetic sensitiveity has ever been able to identify or sense EMF, the symptoms occur solely when they can see that they are near an object they believe to to be producing harmful radiation.

According to the reporter from NPR today he interviewed one of these women who could tell he had a cell phone and which pocket it was in, seemed interesting

Yeah, I think it's a complete crock. The guy who sued his neighbor in Santa Fe for having a router would have died walking into the courthouse if he was truly EM sensitive.

Skeptics, not cynics. Cynics have no hope, whether there is proof or not. Skeptics believe, but ask for proof. :D

Speak for yourself.  After working tech support, I'm a cynic.  :P

I read about these things just a few months ago, and according to what I could find out only the "sensation press" seem to have been able to find proof that these things exists. As Joush said

Several studies have been done about these kinds of things, and not a single person has been able to repeatedly be able to tell that someone carries a source of electromagnetism, they have just been able to tell when there have been strong indications of there being a strong source of electromagnetism nearby.
