Looks like I should plan for the whole running group to come and shack up to get all the expertis needed to run a proper base, does grass grow in the Barrens? I wonder with all the yeast in the air at a brewery would that help hide people from spirtes and astralforms?
Or maby get moss you can Blender up moss with beer and dirt pluse suger then you can paint moss on walls and ceilings have the caster check out how it holds up or go for the real biofiber boards.

Thinking of all the surface you need to cover it makes sense to limit it to private rooms and operations theaters (planing areas and work stations) man this gets huge!

Take a look at Messy Biz Chapter 1.5: A Barren Interlude in the PbP section to see the secret base I made.

For a touch of Astral security, I might suggest climbing roses or their cousins, the blackberry bush. Especially in Seattle, invasive and aggressive blackberries tend to grow anywhere and produce thickets with sharp thrones and closely knit branches. That certainly seems like something that would be unconformable for someone to try and push though asteraly. The problem is the small one that it could take a few years to guide vines up a trellias on the outside of the building. (Ivy's a classic look too, but lacks thorns).

And remember, it's hard to beat just having a sprirt for security. Even a none too strong one can set off an alarm and get you ready to defend yourself.

A secret base can be hidden by concealment (not being easy to see) or by obscurity (by not looking out of place or important). Hiding it as an active business is a pretty darn good way to handle things.

I need to talk to my GM because my payscale must be all wrong if you guys are getting paid enough to maintain these kind of lifestyles. Using the customized lifestyle plans you guys have some pricey pads and I am lucky to get paid enough to build up my gear, replace my guns/bullets and keep a low to middle lifestyle after my first five or six runs

For what it's worth, the best cover for a base I ever saw (not in SR but it'd work) was as a military research and development business seeking contracts with the government military.  Special toys? "under development". High grade military devices? "base platforms for development." Areas you did NOT want visitors? "Sorry, sir, but access requires compartmentalized clearance."

For what it's worth, my team's most recent base is a converted warehouse using custom lifestyle rules from the companion which Mason keeps a Force 8 ward around, and we are going to buy security measures like maglocks and MAD scanners and such for anyone we bring in. This place is hard to get into, and came with two workplaces (one for our rigger and one for me), and two different escape routes.

The Matrix security isn't lax either - we have everything hardwired and we wire our comms in when we need to use the Matrix controlled facilities.

First, yeah, I think you might be underpaid, depending on how many runs you're making.

Second, and also yeah, the "making a super secret base" ability implies serious overpayment OR a long time building a fortune.

Overpayment. Runs meant for large numbers of players result in success with half the runners dead. Payment doubles. Add extra pay from gear sales. Add royalties from the mage's published spells and new novahot hit movie.

Of course, if you can get the whole team to chip in on a lifestyle it gets a whole lot cheaper per person. With 4 people you are only going to have to pay 32.5% per person. With 5 people it's down to a sweet 28% share, and most shadowrunner bases are acutely pretty cheap.

Area's low to squatter, building is low to mid, and security is mostly provided by the party and their investments. No way to tell what kind of entertainment or furniture hey invest in, but most shadowrunners are willing to relax with some synthetic booze, simsense and crash in a nice secure room with a conformable bed. Some of course have expensive taste, and some need to be able to look like money to help there job, like a face.

One of my moonlighting jobs is security for a recently-closed company at my local airport. Wandering the now empty buildings make me think that one of the auxiliary buildings would make a nice HQ. There are offices and bunk rooms on the top floor, aircraft maintenance areas, a large area that used to house international cargo that can easily be modified to house a decent amoung ot small to medium aircraft. It's relatively near the runway, and the fact that the runway is active and a lot of cargo comes and goes, masquerading as a "trading" company would be a good cover. And with the layout of the place, a helipad would be an easy addition.

However, the Air National Guard Base literally right next door could either be a blessing or a curse...depending.

The airport might be a high rent area And that means a perfect sin record for your face as they should run background checks unless we just move in and set up shop grin, we would need to keep tabs on when they want to reopen or show off the site.

I still like the no rent squater fortt look were the law don't care to tred.

I have considered setting up the base as a community of displaced persons i would start at character gen and buy contact and loyalty with a leader in the area who could bring in good people set them up in a good home and arm them with looted sec guard equipment .
Downside if the Corps come for you you may get alot of them killed :( .
