I am Bane. I am a fairly old hand at Shadowrun, I usually roll 2nd Ed. Just what I was taught on, and I like it enough to not try later ones.

My question...
(If this is in the wrong place for intros, or questions...then my bad.)

Say I have a gun that fires at 9M. Has burst fire. So it'd be 12S.
Now say I get creative with the ammo load.
I go...
1st bullet, EX explosive.
2nd bullet, flechette.
3rd bullet, standard.
And I keep doing that load the whole magizine.

How would my damage be calculated?
Peace is a lie.

I only know 4A, if it's the same then only one type of round can be in a clip

"...then can you tell me, sir, what time does that train reach Chicago?!"

"That's a fargin' trick question!"

Welcome. This is probably the most hospitable board in the entire Matrix (if you play nice... :P ) so I wouldn't worry, too much. Not sure about SR2...I think it's the only edition I don't own. But in most editions I believe that it specifically restricts things like "combat loads" as you're discussing...

...on the other hand, there are certain weapons and mods that would allow you select specific loads, on the fly, via your Smartlink.

If at any time during the ride you become disoriented, assume that I'm quoting a movie.

It's a fairly safe bet.  :P

It wasn't allowed to mix ammo especially not in Bursts.Neither in SR3 nor in SR4 or 4A,but
nobody can stop Your Char from doing this though. If I were GM I'd rule that the Ammo with the least Damage counts

The reason that mixing ammunition is bad due to a variety of reasons, even IRL.  The main one being that the ballistics are different.  Even if they're just "Ball" rounds (Regular ammunition.).

If you have a bunch of ammo from a variety of sources instead of out of the same box being assembled at the same time from the same factory, each warhead is going to go it's own way.  When you add in different warhead types, which probably each have their own unique propellant charge...  Well...  Bad Things happen to your aiming.  Even on Semi-Auto.

Apparently, some Kalashes found in The Sandbox had ammo from different places (Some so old that the steel cases were corroded!), which is believed to be one of the reasons for the reduced accuracy of insurgent forces.  Yes, the AK is a bullet hose to begin with, but this makes the situation even worse.

Even tracers, which are mixed with regular ammo (In the rules and IRL) have different flight characteristics to the rest of their brethren in the magazine, as the warhead is lighter.

Thanks for the answers.
Not sure what would happen with the damage, or the secondary effects of the weapons, but it is safe to say that the gun would most likely not be long for this world.
Peace is a lie.

It also doesn't help that so many A) don't actually use the sights (firing from the hip, yeah!) and B) those that do have the little Range adjustment dial set to maximum because they want the rifle at "full power".

One of the reasons I like revolvers. I can put different rounds in separate chambers and not have to worry about the gun going ka-boom.

I'm a Canadian Civilian.  I've held a firearm in my actual hands less than five times.  (Before it became illegal to even think about letting someone without the proper licensing to even look at a real firearm or airsoft weapon, BTW.  And always under the watchful eyes of professionals.).

300m does not mean that's how many infidels you're going to kill with your weapon.  It means the bullet will hit that target (Hopefully) at 300 metres due to muzzle drop.

*Headdesk*  And it's not like they didn't previously know how to properly use sights...  They used SMLE's which had even more complex sighting systems when Soviet Russia invaded!

Of course, that was a bolt-action rifle and you had to make every shot count, whereas a fully-automatic weapon is a magic bullet hose that kills everyone in front of you, every time, right?

As for shooting from the hip, not everyone does that, even in The Sandbox.  Those that have training will actually use the sights.  ...  They also typically have them set to "Full Infidel Killing Power", however.   :o

Wow, I am glad I live in Texas.  Where I can get what I want and at least for now not have to worry about the gov't telling me I cannot have it.

One of the many, many reasons I'm glad I don't live in that "State".

Of course we aren't exactly anti-gun here in Wisconsin either.

The irony of that statement is that here in Texas I only own a single pistol and rifle.  My uncle in Wisconsin however has an arms room that would make Chuck Norris and Charles Bronson both a little jealous.
It's not the man with the gun that gets you.  It's the three bullets he fired that tore through you vital organs that's killed you.
