At Origins 2011 we ran our first ever Shadowrun Missions Scramble event.  We've run this a number of times at Gen Con, but this was a first for Origins.  It was a ton of fun, it was really interesting, and while the overall turnout wasn't where we'd have liked, it was still a good time.

The origins convention center represented the Ork Underground.  We had actors playing all of the Season 4 Contacts, as well as a few extra NPCs on hand to really spice things up.

The basic premise was that the main section of the Ork Underground is under lockdown as Knight Errant performs "Operation: Fumigation", sealing the exits and trying to nab criminals coming into and out of the Ork Underground.  So the PCs are trapped down there for the duration.

Each team had it's own goals...  For instance, one team was trying to kidnap Assistant DIstrict Attorney Dana Oaks, while another's job was to find and protect her.  Another team was simply escorting NewsNet reporter Joe Martin around the Underground as he tried to dig up stories.  Meanwhile, most of the NPCs had their own side stories and sub-plots going on.  There were a handful of artifacts loose in the underground, part of a recent shipment that got "Misplaced", and several NPCs were interested in getting their hands on specific artifacts.

Mayhem ensued.

Special mention has to go to Jason Hardy's son Finn, who played Pip the Ork Underground Street Urchin.  Pip shows up in Missions to play tour guide for players, and that's pretty much what Finn did here.  Though he did a great job of just leading the players around in circles and extorting heaps of cash from them.  It was fantastic. :)

Finn as Pip.  Evil red glowing eyes purely coincidental!

Kat Hardy as Fiona Craig, Arcanoarcheologist and perpetual Damsel in Distress

Robin Sheldrake as ADA Dana Oaks

Shaun Burton as Hez, Skraacha Gang Lieutenant

Some dumbass in a crappy, halfassed Ork Decker costume

Mystic as Knight Errant Detective Tosh Athack

Sadly I didn't get any pics of Caine_Hazen as Moreau, DireRadiant as Lin Yao Chang, or Robert Loper as Simon Andrews (Bob had a great big rubber dragon mask he wore :))

Lurkeroutthere wisely chose not to go in blackface to play a Hatian dwarf.  However, I tried to get him to do a version of Tim Conway's Dorf character, but to no avail. :)

All in all, good times.

And we get to do it all again at Gen Con!

Toy or not, finger off the fucking trigger! :P (I'm not trying to be a complete dick)

Anyway, awesome. I'm still putting together my motif, but if anyone saw on twitter last weekend I learned that if unscrew the folding stock from an Airsoft G36 eqv. I can basically carry it like a shoulder rig pistol (God, I love being 6'1").

You're not.  Trigger discipline is very important.

Just watch Pulp Fiction to find out why!

See.  Smartlinks mean never having to take your finger off the trigger. :)

Hell, you don;t even need to have your finger ON the trigger, really.  You barely need to point. :)

Lookin' forward to Gencon more and more.  I got almost the last of my costume bits while studying abroad in Edinburgh, and now I'm all set, except for a set of ears (which are easy enough to find at Gencon's dealer hall).

Does that mean the end of your sporty little beard, too, Crit? And I don't mean Flea. :)

Now I wish for two things...

One:  That I could do good costuming.

Two:  That I was going to GenCon.   :'(
