So my local group swaps between groups running Missions every other week and a house campaign during the in between campaign. The house campaign uses the Karma System from Runner's Companion with 750 Karma Points to build with (for now, it may be upped later for backstory, ect.).
Now, I've been reading through the Karma System and was wondering a few things. First, is there any errata for it out there? My main book says that Attributes are new rating * 5 to raise but the system has it at new rating * 3. Is this one of the 20th Anniversary changes? Was it meant for the Creation system to be changed.
Next, are Edge, Magic, and Resonance meant to be included in the half Karma allotment to Attributes? The examples it gives seem to indicate not, but Shadowrun (in every edition I've read through) always seems to be rife with errors in the examples.
Also, do you get any free Knowledge/Language Points in the Karma System generation? It says you start with one Language at N and the examples show the characters paying for them like all the other skills.
Last, does the one attribute at maximum include Edge, Magic, and Resonance?
On an entirely unrelated note, is there any errata for War yet? I've found a lot of the equipment in the book worded extremely odd or just flat out weird stat wise (for instance it is harder to get an Assault Rifle with an Underbarrel Stun Baton than it is to get the same one with an underbarrel grenade launcher).
We just noticed last session while the other players were giving me tips for my character, that everyone at the table interpretted the Softweave rules a different way. There are three opinions at our table.
A.) It reduces the highest rating (Ballistic or Impact) of each armor piece worn by the character's strength. So a STR 4 character wearing Armored Jacket (Softweaved) over Form-Fit (Softweaved) would reduce the encumbrance of the Jacket to 4/6 and the Form-Fit to 0/1.
B.) It reduces the highest rating of the highest armor value item worn by the Character's STR. So the above character's Jacket would be 4/6 but the Form-fit wouldn't benefit and would be 3/1 still.
C.) It reduces both ratings of the highest armor piece by the character's STR. So the above case would be Jacket 4/2 and Form-fit 3/1.
Which of these is right?
From a strictly rules written point I think A. would be correct since it doesn't say the highest rating of ALL worn armor but just the highest rating of worn armor, implying that each piece of softweaved armor would be calculated separately. I see this as being very abusive though since it also says "All armor types are available as SoftWeave" meaning that theoretically I could have SoftWeaved helmets and PPP peices with little to no encumbrance added.
