Hey all, new GM here and former SR player (15 odd years ago)... Just wondering if there's any source info out there on Atlanta? I see it's the capital of CAS, so I'm assuming it is thriving. Regionally, my group is located near Atlanta so I thought it would be fun to base the campaign out of a familiar city.

i have Shadows of north America in front of me, and it has a short section on Atlanta on page 67. not much there.

the neo-anarchists guide to north america has a proper section on Atlanta on pages 35-47, which is probably closer to what your looking for, even if it is a bit dated (2052). there are six sections of town mentioned with security ratings (downtown, buckhead, decatur, douglasville, marietta and norcross)

[edit] also, the neo-anarchists guide has fold-out maps in the back. one of these is a map of downtown Atlanta.

I was just in Atlanta and I think its funny that in SR Atlanta is by far the most classically cyberpunk of the settings, but also that it's pretty close IRL.

Out of curiosity, what makes Atlanta the most classically cyberpunk? I think that's great, by the way. That's definitely the kind of campaign I want to run.

The NAGNA writeup has a couple of very CPish aspects of it. The 500-story Cord Mutual tower, the squatters who were stuck in the Fulton Dome, the gamer kids who are hyper-wired (as it Wired Reflexes 3) to compete in arcade tournaments, the privatized Atlanta Police Force (as in, we're not pretending this isn't more of a military force than a police department), and just some other tonal/thematic themes that just made me feel super mirrorshades when I remembered them as I was driving into downtown.

There's just something ... I'd need to check later ... But it reminds me of the feeling you get reading CP2020 or Gibson more than any of the other cities in that book.

Dix, the Atlanta Flatline.  Pretty much where the genere started.
