This came up in our gaming group. We're debating the proper pronunciation of orichalcum.

How do you pronounce it?

Well I'd go with Greekish pronunciation of orichalcum as "or eh khal kum" or Anglicize it  to "or eh kal sum," and I tend to stress (primary) the khal/kal, and secondary stress on the "or"

Wolfboy's version is interesting, though I think it's missing that last "c" which could go either "k" or "s" sound, so, "or ek alkum" or "or ek alsum." I like "or ek alkum" as alkum sounds a bit like alchemy.

But after searching a bit, yeah, the first version is correct, awr-i-kal-kuhm via http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/orichalcum

Also, origins of the word here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orichalcum

I've been reading "The Life of Apollonius of Tyara" by Philostratus (written ~200 AD) and it mentions orichalcum (as well as how the Indians [old world] hunt the dragons in the border mountains [Pakistan/Afghanistan]) which was a shock as I had always thought it was a Shadowrun specific material...hehe.

Thanks, all. I appreciate it.

That's one hard word to enunciate.
