Something's come up with my group that I'm not quite sure how it works, vis a vis what drone racks are actually for (New to SR, so this could be a bit obvious...).
Now, the 20th Anniversary Edition corebook doesn't have anything on drone racks, or what is required to transport, use, or deploy them on a run. Looking at Arsenal, however, they have Drone Racks. Some members of the group seem to be thinking that you have to have drone racks to take drones on runs - but that's not mentioned anywhere at all. I haven't really seen the role of drone racks explained, either, but the fact that they take up a Weapon Mount has me thinking that they are for deploying drones on the fly, say, while driving, so that they can participate in vehicle combat, drop away for some recon, or many other things - whereas without them you can still take a drone with you, just inside the vehicle and it would be difficult to deploy without stopping to unload it - especially a larger drone.
So, for example, if I wanted to be able to have my Steel Lynx deploy while the team is being chased and attacked by a bunch of armoured bikes or somesuch, I'd need a Large Drone Rack (as the Steel Lynx is a Large Drone), and obviously a sizable vehicle to put it on. Am I getting this right? Mostly right? Completely off base because of some piece of rules text I've missed?
