Actually there is a trick, but it is more or less the only survival strategy that I came up with...
The Paladin sprite has a power called Castling (see Unwired, p. 156). That power transfers Matrix Damage from your TM to the sprite instead. There is only a little problem, that kind of sprite is not a common one. Only Info Savants and Technoshamans compile and register them.
What can you do if you not one of their Streams?
1. You can be friend with one TM with a fitting Stream, and she will give you one of her Paladins?
2. You can capture one with the Decompiling action.
3. You can spoof that task if one is around.
4. You can learn the Echo: Sprite Link for Paladin sprites.
What is the trick?
First of all the Rating of the Paladin sprite is not really important (at least not if we talk about such high damage values like with that data bomb 15+)
So a Rating 1 Paladin sprite will do the trick. You have to link (see Linking (Long -Term Registering), Unwired, p. 154) it to your TM with a Castling task, and pay the Karma cost (in our case 1 KP). Now you have 256 days one-shot protection (9 boxes to fill) if it's destroyed it will come back in 15 days.
My personal idea is a Protection Bar in form of 10 Rating 1 Paladin sprites, they manifesting as 10 little glowing points, if one is hurt it glows in a different color or not that bright, if it is down it disappears. And since Paladin sprites are Protectors as their purpose, they do not regret getting hit instead of their TM.
[Costs: 10 Karma Points, for 10 shots or 90 boxes of Matrix Damage to take before it comes to your technomancer.]
But that is something, I would only do, if my GM do excessively uses data bombs against my technomancer character... It is a Cheat I never really liked to use, but tell me another 24/7 data bombs protection for a technomancer and I'm happy to delete that Task Link?
