In addition to a second season, an anime series is now in production:

Altered Carbon. This anime feature, set in the same universe of the Netflix live-action sci-fi series (second season in production from Skydance Television), will explore new elements of the story mythology. Writer: Dai Sato (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo) and Tsukasa Kondo. Animation Studio: Anima.

Personally I was stoked for the Blade Runner - Black Lotus anime that was supposed to come last year. I guess BR2049 under preforming  killed it.

Altered Carbon is a work of pure genus. Need to re-watch season 1 before siting down to 2.

I just finished season 1 and am a couple episodes into season 2. A friend of mine told me the books are even better than the show.

Loved Season 1 but Season 2 left me underwhelmed.

It wasn't bad, just far from the level of "wow, that is cool" that S1 evoked.

Agreed - the books are better IMO too, they make some alterations in the netflix series that are made much more clear in the books. I enjoyed both versions though!

Yeah, I also do agree!
The original books are very often better or at least more detailed than the series or movied made afterwards.

But it is also somehow understandable, that you can´t make a movie/series as detailed - right?

So personally do also enjoy both versions.
