@Herr Brackhaus: Thanks for the gear explications you sent over PM, they all look good. Some questions: why did your first point in Automotive Mechanic cost you 8 karma?  Also why did you pick elf at priority C but net 0 special attribute points? Are you playing some type of metavariant? Oh also, just out of curiosity, what is you character's signature?
Updated karma spend with actual skills bought :)
Updated Priority choices; Metatype was D and Skills was C, so the values were correct but the priorities were swapped around.

Thanks!

The characters signature is briefly explained in the backstory, but to elaborate; Fenris uses Nerve Strike to paralyze his target, places them on their back, and then cuts their throat with a ceramic blade (stats below). He then leaves a hand carved wolf fang on the victim's body after thoroughly cleaning the scene with C-Square to ensure nothing can trace back to him.

I originally wanted to use poison as the method of actually making the kill, but a) didn't feel this was fitting for a Wolf adept, and b) couldn't find any toxins worth using that aren't horribly expensive. So, exanguination by blades it is.

Quote from: Ceramic/Plasteel Knife (Acc 5, DV (STR+2)P, AP -1, Avail 4, 75¥, HT p179
Ceramic knives are lightweight and nonmetallic that are primarily sold as specialty tools. Divers use them because they are resistant to salt water corrosion, and explosive defusing experts use them because they are nonmetallic and will not trigger bombs with magnetic anomaly detectors. Plasteel knives share most characteristics with ceramic knives, including being undetectable to MAD scanners. They are most commonly handmade from scraps taken from machinery or vehicles. A few designs are mass manufactured, but generally ceramic is the preferred medium due to superior edge retention under heavy use. Both are equally useful to a shadowrunner who wants to sneak a blade into a secure area.

Only if I get to hang a sign over the front door that reads "Wolfpack members only!" :D

Seriously, though, while wolf is a social creature and a bunch of killers certainly could be considered a pack, I'm not sure that's for me. With 5 players, you might still get a bite from someone like Hookline (lolpun!).

I'll know for sure later when I get into the head of the character a little more, but my gut reaction is that Fenris is a kid who would enjoy space for himself. Of course, that can be arranged with the lifestyle option "Private Room" as per my current lifestyle, so I'm not entirely against the idea.

I'll leave this up to GM discretion, because I have the Trust Fund quality, and while II get 2000 a month for a Low lifestyle (plus the stuff I get for the con I have going with the landlord) I'm not sure I can use that 2000 for a shared Middle lifestyle. Plus It'd have to be exactly 3 people.

Meet Kynos - ex-military, ex-husband and ex-tremely dead inside. As an idealistic young idiot he went to join the armed forces to defend the fatherland (or what was left of it). 20 years later and countless invasive surgeries later he is only a shell of his former self. Between deployment in foreign countries, a failed marriage and massive injuries, at some point he stopped to care. Something broke inside him, his life and that of others stopped to be of great importance.
The only time he feels alive is when he is back on a mission, feeling the adrenaline coursing through his veins.

This is precisely the reason why he hasn't left the Barrens where he ended up a few years prior after Europe became to hot: Here is action to be had, here he can feel alive every day until he dies...

As a side note, Hookline is dead broke, so he sold his old vehicle ( a vintage '42 El Camino) to pay debts. As such, he has no vehicle, so he's going to be bumming rides. So hopefully one of you drekheads has the money for a vehicle that can fit an extra person.

Bonus points if somebody fudges (or lets me fudge) stats for a '42 El Camino, so I can buy it back.

Hoi Bewilderbeast

I'd be interested in being considered for a slot. Will have a character sheet and background to you by PM within the next 48 hours - already got most of the background sorted out in my head during a long bike ride this afternoon  8).

A few upfront caveats that I should highlight for you:

  • I've been lurking around here for the past couple of months, particularly keeping an eye on the PbP section, but have only just (this minute) registered, so I have no history here, and truth be told no Shadowrun PbP experience.
  • Even worse, I've not played Shadowrun or even any other RPG's probably since last century! (my hardopy is of 1st ed.). I have however had a good look through much of the 3rd, 4th and 5th edition literature over the years as the setting has always fascinated me since first interaction. This does mean that I will be pretty green in terms of all the dice-rolling, etc. - hopefully this will be seen as a positive, as this may prove useful for your own desired experience as I'll need a bit of rule related hand-holding; we can learn together  ;).
  • If the above is not off-putting for you, on the positive side the above means that I am highly motivated to get my feet wet, and I have lots of free time (OK, OK all my time is free nowadays ;D) so should ba able to maintain a decent post-rate. A focus on combat and a narrow(ish) set of the 5th ed rulebooks is also of relevance for me as much of the existing PbP threads seem pretty intimidating to a noob like me given that everyone seems to know all the rules in all the literature like their (IRL) life dependeds on it!

Keep an eye out for that incoming PM!

I'm honored my little play-by-post game could coax you out of retirement! And yes, I'm fine with players who haven't mastered the rules yet. I'd prefer it if the group wasn't 100% newbs, because that would quickly turn into a blind leading the blind situation, but between Jack Spade, Herr Brackhaus and myself I'm confident we can keep things going.

As far as posting rate goes, I should mention I'm looking for for 3-4 posts a week. I personally can't post every day, so it would be unfair to me to hold others to that standard, but if you can post more that's great.

Sounds good. I will try to post the relevant rules to any actions my character takes. pbp is a fantastic tool to learn the rules of the game.

Is it just me or are you 2 attribute points over? I count 26 points spent on attributes (37 total when you sum up your natural attributes, minus the 11 baseline for Elves (AGI 2, CHA 3, all others 1).

I spent 25 Karma  to raise Logic from 1 to 3
(Doesn't seem optimal, but I enjoy the raised Mental Limit as well as the improved protection against certain spells - not to mention that I don't want to play a stupid murderer)

I should mention that, at this point, I have five full sheets and one person who expressed interest but hasn't submitted a sheet yet. Five is my personal limit for PCs before I think things start to get unwieldy, so right now at least one person is going to be waitlisted. I'm going to make final decisions about who actually is in the game Sunday, so if you've been lurking and considering applying... now's the time!

Also, something I mentioned to some of you in PMs but not all of you... you're starting with an extra little perk in addition to your starting contact. You each get 20 Karma (and the attendant 2 Street Cred) to represent your pre-wetwork life. Please spend this karma as though you earned it post-chargen, and remember, you can only "carryover" 7 Karma from chargen (should you choose to do so). And yes, this 20 extra Karma can be spent on Initiation/Submersion if you want.

The downside? Because you're a runner with a reputation for doing wetwork, you will all also start with 2 points of Notoriety (yes, even those of you that picked Consummate Professional... which was like, Christ, more than half of you). You can spend Street Cred to reduce your Notoriety as normal (reduce 2 points of Street Cred to ditch 1 point of Notoriety).

To keep it simple I would just make Fenris a follower of The Invisible Way in order to discount Combat Sense (0.25PP), Nerve Strike (0.5PP), and Traceless Walk (0.5PP), then pick up another level of Improved Reflexes and one level of Nimble Fingers. That takes care of the extra karma easy enough.

Any nuyen in it for the game as well, or "just" the Karma? Don't get me wrong, I'm more than happy to take 20 karma, just checking :)

I'm OK with the notoriety, actually. I kill people for money; notoriety is kind of the name of the game at this point.

ETA:
Updated character sheet; moved one point from Reaction to Strength to gain a higher Physical Limit since I'll be taking Improved Reflexes 3 instead of 2.

Oh, and if I do get picked, here's the starting nuyen roll:
Starting ¥: 3d6*60 660 [4, 4, 3]
