OK, so..Insect Spirits have an Severey Allergy to insecticides, however it seems like they have been dropped
from purchasable in the current rules. At least, I cannot find KE IV or similar compounds anywhere. Am I
just missing something? Or has this just not been released yet?

Likely not been released.  Since the most major things in the game have been the introduction of limits and that sort of thing, take a look at what happened with two or three of the other common chemicals, then snag KE-IV or whatever from 4e, tweak a modification as appropriate, and go with that.

The Bug Spirits have been infiltrating corps (not just Ares!) and disrupting chemicals in the process, making some insecticide "duds" and shortening supply.

They might have kept them out of any sourcebooks thusfar.

We should probably fix that. :)

Old news,

Back in 4E Conspiracy Theories there were already warning folk about how the bugs had gotten smarter, either hijacking/destroying insecticide runs or tampering with them so are potentially less effective without you realizing it until it's too late.

So even if you have Wyrd mantis essence, best check it to make sure it's not a dud.

We are still working on introducing an Allergy: Insects (Mild) into trained hounds to help sniff out bug infiltrators in a clean zone.

Do you believe in a greater WIRELESS, an Invisible(WiFi) All Seeing(detecting those connected- at least if within 100'), All Knowing(all online data) Presence that we can draw upon for Wisdom(downloads & updates), Strength (wifi boni) and Comfort (porn) or do you turn your back on it  (Go Offline)?

Well Ares has AEGIS which is essentially magic insecticide that acts on both the Astral and Physical plane at once. Given their recent experimentation with using Bug Spirits as cheap security they may not be too keen on letting too much of that stuff hit the streets lest their bug spirit guards be rendered powerless.

... that being (as I track down) in the Shadowrun Returns video game?  It might be sharp to preface such a statement with that information; here we deal mainly with the books, and tidbits and weird stuff from any of the various video games is / can get lost pretty easily.

Here's the problem with including video game stuff into the main universe, though: video games are basically forced to use a lot of things for game balance that simply don't work thematically (or by prior game rules) in the main universe.  From the brief review of AEGIS that you've suggested and I've been able to find, it's a good example: going by SR rules, it'd never fly in the main (tabletop game) universe.

Yes it is.

My understanding is that Shadowrun Returns was considered to be canon as Jordan Weisman is on the team putting it out. Am I incorrect in this assumption? For reference I am only accepting Shadowrun Returns as being canon specifically because Jordan Weisman is directly involved as he is the owner of the company putting it out. Shadowrun Chronicles I think is canon but I am hesitant to cite it without independent verification.

I think I see where the confusion is coming from.

Mr. Weisman started Shadowrun ages ago but that was sold on.

He does head up HareBrained which turns out the Shadowrun Returns, but what he does there is not necessarily canon in the main SR universe as he is not the head of CGL or Topps for that matter.

Granted a lot of stuff tries to sync up with SR, but he has the ability to tweak things to make the game play out smoother without having to cross every t and dot every i canon-wise.

The closest we have to a videogame being canon is the Chronicles as they have said events going on there may have an impact on the SR universe through player feedback and actions in game.  But that does not mean everything in Chrony will be canon either, just select events/reactions.

I am not certain of the canon transfer from Chronicles (or the rest) into Tabletop, so ...

The bugs have probably gained resistance to it, like real bugs. We're just making the survivors stronger.

In exchange for Immunity To Normal Weapons, okay.
