Personality/background Helpful. As a follower of Hecate, Katsina must render aid to those who truly ask for it. She also tends to render aid to those that don't ask for it. We're waiting on an IC post from Poindexter to close out Chapter III, after which we will transition to Chapter IV. Poindexter wasn't feeling well yesterday so he's catching up from being sick. Once that's up I'll do an initial IC post for Chapter IV and we'll resume.

Karma awards will go out soon, probably tomorrow.

Open question: There will be some GM-issued bonuses along with the karma awards. (Improved skills and the like.) Do people just want to be informed of what those are or would you prefer that they remain secret until they come into play? I wasn't sure if people are missing that element of surprise which we had more of when the game was young or if they're happier having full command of their stats at this point in the game.

I don't have strong feelings about it really -- which isn't to say I'm dis-interested, only that I'm torn -- but I think my opinion is that I'd rather know.  I feel like even if I don't know who Ace was exactly, I'm getting a good sense of who he is now.

I think having them hidden is a cool idea, and a new opportunity to find out more about  we who we used to be , but at this late stage of the game there is the risk that we might never discover the ability or discover it too late to get any meaningful use of of it. So, while of be fine with either option, I'm leaning toward letting us pick.

It sounds like people are flexible on the knowing about the freebies. It's less bookkeeping for me just to tell you, plus it keeps the playing field level since I automatically know what Katsina's freebie is.

These specialization awards aren't meant to be optimized, either from an RP perspective or for crunch. They are specializations that I would have given at chargen, knowing what I know about the characters.

Ace: Leadership (Rally)
Chino: Astral Combat (Spirits)
Doc: Hardware (Cyberdecks)
Katsina: Astral Combat (sword focus)
Ohanzee: Perception (Visual)
Sam: Demolitions (Plastic Explosives)

These are completely separate from your karma and other awards.

I encourage people to spend their karma, as there may not be another award until the conclusion of the game. No need to save/bank it for future use.

I can't remember if I made an official ruling on this after previous karma awards. If so, I've lost track of it. But, in the event that anyone would like to purchase a Positive Quality with their karma, you do not need to double the karma cost. Traditionally I do require the cost to be doubled post-chargen, but as we did not do a traditional chargen, and since the premise of the game is based on skills and qualities re-emerging from amnesia, I don't see the need to apply it here.

If anyone is interested in martial arts or other special scenarios, let me know.
