Use rulers; if you want to make it close to a 25-28mm scale (or 1:48thish) go with 1 meter per 1/2".  Even on a bigger table mind you, a light pistol will still reach out and touch, but its better than 50" range ;)
If you try and take a cat apart to see how it works, the first thing you have on your hands is a non-working cat~DNA

Wow, that's pretty sweet. Last time I checked out RPTools I wasn't impressed, but I'll have to give it a second try for this.

My group uses our laptops and a free virtual table top application called Map Tools.  Its pretty awesome and has brought our gaming to the next level.  There is even a campaign file framework for Shadowrun 4e.  This gives us a virtualy unlimited area for our battle grid, :)

You can download maptools at:

http://www.rptools.net/index.php?page=downloads#MapTool

And the SR4 framework is in the forums at:

Check it out, you will be glad you did.

interesting indeed ;D
