Hoi!

So, about that IC thread: I can start it this week if you like, or next week. Thing is, I'm moving to Boston this Sunday and there will be a pause in my posting schedule while I'm trying to settle there, so if we start this week it will be a slow start. So when would you like to start?

Question - with a RIG, would this work if I had a face mask instead of a helmet?

I can't say that I understand the question =(

Best of luck with the move! Say hi to some southies for me :-)

RIG is something from run and gun, says it needs to be put into a helmet and armor to function. Though I'm wanting to use a ballistics mask myself. I want to know if I can put it into that mask
Concepts are great, but implementation sucks. Why not improve it?

Ah! Sorry, I forgot how to acronym =P Sure, you can put that in a mask.

Yeah, I don't see why you couldn't put the headware part of the RIG in a ballistic mask instead of a helmet; it has more capacity that your standard helmet anyway.

Still need the armor piece, of course, but that shouldn't matter much. I'm guessing RIGs are just most commonly installed in a soldiers armor, from the description.

OK. Thank you for your understanding =) We will be starting the IC thread next week, when I'm well settled in Boston. The time difference won't be an issue for quite some time)

Alright, I'll finish up the last bit of my character then.

I picked up Small Unit Tactics knowledge skill, as I do intend to use this knowledge skill a lot for you all.

You might want to clarify with the GM how Small Unit Tactics work; also note that SUT is useless for Moto, and I'd argue that unlike leadership you can't use SUT from a remote location, but that's just me relating real world knowledge to that section of the book, which is actually very real world comparable.

Why is it useless for Moto?

And why can you not use it from a remote location?

First of all, just make sure you clarify how the rules actually works with Elek; there was a pretty good discussion on this recently;
http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=17519.0

Moto uses Roto-Drones; he wouldn't be much use in a combat maneuver, with the possible exception of Crossfire.

As for remote location; the leader has to be, you know, accepted as a leader by the team. I find it hard to believe that someone who's in your ear, watching your movements through cameras, would be an accepted leader for a fire team out in the field.

Again, I'm applying real world logic to game mechanics; the combat maneuvers in R&G are very closely modeled on real world maneuvers with which I'm very familiar; I just don't see what you're describing happening.

Add to the fact that Moto, being a remote operative like yourself, probably wouldn't accept your leadership to begin with, and you'll see why there might be an issue. That doesn't mean the skill is not useful to the remaining two members of the team, though.

I'm applying realworld too. On the field there typically isn't a whole lot of cameras and other methods of gathering information. But move into something like a hotel security, or small military structure where you have a lot of cameras and a security room.

Typically there is that one room that has several screens that could be viewed while the guy in that location can direct the rest of the security forces.

Just a voice in your ear is so 1990s. This is 2075, where I can create a virtual persona, and plop it right into the AR. Essentially I can be there both visually and audibly, provided characters have img link. This isn't a game of Knightmare anymore.

Not accepting his leadership comes down more to not respecting the leadership of a guy who isn't directly attempting to block bullets with his body. Basically, No danger of getting killed in a fire fight = Not a leader, regardless of other ways he is capable of being killed.

I still fail to see how your rotodrones cannot be of any assistance. There is a few of the maneuvers that specifically call out the use of drones or spirits

Roto-Drones, at least mine, tend to stay way the hell out of trouble since they are glass cannons like nobody's business :)

Traveling Overwatch I can do; anything else (especially Dynamic Entry, which is the only other maneuver that mentions drones specifically) is unlikely.

We'll see, I guess; I do have a somewhat antiquated (at least by 2075 standards) view of how these things work, which is probably why I'm not appreciative of the idea. Like I said, though, just make sure to clarify the rules with Elek; it took a few of us several read-throughs to come to an agreement on how the rules "should" work.

Well, I mostly intend on the unit tactics that need less hits to achieve. And I could use leadership to get moto to listen anyways.

Yeah, if you start rolling against other players I'm out. Fair warning.
