Steyr AUG-CSL - The Steyr AUG-CSL is a multi-weapon system. While the basic weapon is an assault rifle, it can also be assembled as a submachine gun, a rifle, or a light machine gun. Converting the weapon from one system to another requires an Armorer + Logic (8, 1 minute) Extended Test. The weapon system is delivered in a special large briefcase with enough compartments to hold all the weapon’s components. Breaking down the weapon into its parts for transportation or storage or rebuilding it into one of the configurations requires the same Extended Test with a Threshold of 5.
All AUG-CSL configurations have an integral top-mounted laser sight, a barrel-mounted gas-vent system that provides 1 point of recoil compensation, and a rigid stock (giving the SMG configuration an additional point of recoil compensation).
The configurations require different skills to be used properly: Automatics for the assault rifle and submachine gun configuration, Heavy Weapons for the LMG configuration, and Longarms for the rifle configuration. All configurations use assault rifle ammunition but different ammo clips.

M-16 - This is the classic of classics in the realm of modern assault rifles. The M-16 was originally constructed with polymer hardware and lightweight alloys, which failed under some combat conditions. It became the predominant assault rifle for the Western world back before the corporations began to take over everything. The rifle was made in several different models by a multitude of manufacturers for nearly seventy years. The current M-22 and M-23 can trace their lineage and ergonomic designs to this rifle. The popularity of this weapon remains high, with large numbers remaining in the hands of collectors and street gangs today. While no longer manufactured, this weapon sells at a brisk pace in auctions and black markets across the globe.

The rifle has largely been replaced by the AK-97 and 98 in Russian service, but the older AK-112 and AN-94 are still stored in government facilities across the country. The weapon was commonly found in garrison units assigned to Poland.

The weapon was selected by several small nations across the world before the EuroWars erupted. The weapon performed well in the ensuing war, but the G-11 gained a legendary reputation. The G-36 is still in the HK catalog, although no production runs have been reported for nearly a decade. A sport model with a longer barrel is still manufactured in limited quantities for customers in CAS.

The rifle was designed to use various advanced optics selected by the user or their organization.

The rifle is designed to efficiently operate in desert environments after extensive prototype testing during the Desert Wars’ 2072 Season. The weapon also has a powered slide mount to facilitate quick changes of accessories. The weapon has been selected by Turkestan’s Interior Ministry troops to replace their aging AK series rifles.

In the Politburo’s desire to hasten rearmament, the AK-97 was introduced as a cheaper alternative. The rifle was still desired for its improved accuracy and resistance to the colder region’s environmental challenges.
The weapon was assigned to units in the 121st and 122nd Motorized Rifle Divisions until they were removed from the line to absorb replacement personnel and equipment. The weapon was also common with interior troops, as AK-97 and 98 production runs were prioritized toward Army units.

HK416 - The HK416 is an improved version of the venerable M-4 carbine series produced by Colt and FN. The primary improvement is centered on replacing the upper receiver and the gas-tube system with a piston gas system to improve reliability. The assault rifle was made in numerous versions, including civilian legal semi-automatic sport weapons. The weapon was selected on a limited basis by several countries before initial production ceased in 2026.
The HK416 saw limited service during the Eurowars after the demand for firearms outstripped the remaining production facilities. The machine tools required to manufacture the HK416 were spared the destruction of the Crash and were therefore available for use after the invasion of Poland. The production line was restarted in a leased facility near Amsterdam, and the weapon shipped to mercenary units forming in France and Germany.

The weapon became a standard armament for Alliance forces streaming through Transcaucasia and present-day Turkistan to invade Russia.
The rifle is a gas-operated, rotating-bolt design, not much different than earlier models used by the Soviet Union. The principle differences are a simplification of the gas system and other changes to increase reliability.
