There´s no need for Catalyst to go after Amazon on this. They simply made a topic here to stop people from going "but Amazon says date X" in forum topics here, and that's all they care about. As for Amazon lying to its customers: That's between its customers and Amazon, not between the customers and Catalyst.

But there is a need in my opinion, Michael. It's in both Catalyst and Amazon's (as well as any other third party) best interest to keep their customers up to date, and Catalyst has an opportunity to do something about a problem they obviously think is important enough to post about on their forum.

Do they have to? Not at all. Should they? Absolutely, in my opinion it's a win-win for Catalyst as it would mean less complaints on the forum, which means more happy customers.

So what, Catalyst should sue Amazon for reporting incorrect dates? I think it's better if they use their time to work on SR5.

But they're not registered sellers on Amazon's website. And is "TBA" an option when you didn't add the product yourself?

AFAIK, Catalyst sends their books directly to the distributors, Battleshop, and DriveThruRPG. Amazon gets them through distributors further down the line. And I think it has been said before that Catalyst sees more money out of Battleshop and DriveThruRPG sales than they do Amazon, so why shouldn't they encourage those avenues?

Catalyst isn't responsible for cleaning up Amazon's crap. They make the books, they put the books out through their distributors. Amazon does its own thing, and you'd be better off trusting politician's promises, or that construction projects will be completed on time and under budget, than anything they put as a release date.

And I'm sick of you talking smack about what is otherwise a decent site for making online purchases. You don't like it? Fine. But quit trying to force your view down other people's throats.

You are in a position of authority for Catalyst, and your constant belittling of Amazon makes the company look bad.
Actually, he's right and it's common knowledge that almost all online stores do that. The same thing happens with video games too.

I mean, come on, there doesn't seem to be a problem with any of the other release dates that Amazon puts in, just the Catalyst ones. That, to me, is rather telling as to where the issue lies.
Go search for any video game that doesn't have a release date yet. Here, I'll show you an example.

http://www.amazon.com/DriveClub-PlayStation-4/dp/B00BGA9ZZ4/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1387002421&sr=1-1&keywords=drive+club

Hate to break it to you man, but you're pretty much the last person on Earth who isn't aware of this very common practice.

I'll just throw this in: I would love to have a glimpse at the upcoming products in any easy to access location. Every single day I hop on the Shadowrun website and check various spots to find a post or blog about a new book coming out. I wish I could see something more. If you have 6 books with priority, please talk a little about your creative process and plans on what might be inside. Something to whet our appetites. I will be buying practically everything you release anyway, I would just love to know well in advance, even if it's not going to out for a long time. I think it's a good idea to get some hype going, some discussion, get people talking. Maybe have some threads asking for consumer wants and needs and stuff like that, it could be fun. Anyway, just my thoughts.
Show me your wallet and I'll show you a man with 20 fingers.

On a semi-related note, I just noticed the old bug of the Battleshop that prevented me from choosing a delivery option to France has finally been solved. So I can at long last order stuff directly from the source :)
