I mean, come on, there doesn't seem to be a problem with any of the other release dates that Amazon puts in, just the Catalyst ones. That, to me, is rather telling as to where the issue lies.

Actually, Amazon make up release dates for PC games all the time, it's not just Catalyst.

perhaps if catalyst were more open with release dates then people like amazon wouldn't have to resort to guessing?
just saying.....

Thought about pointing that out, but I couldn't think of a way to put it 'nicely' with how irritated I was...
So you went with your first post instead?  ???

And I'm sick of you talking smack about what is otherwise a decent site for making online purchases. You don't like it? Fine. But quit trying to force your view down other people's throats.

You are in a position of authority for Catalyst, and your constant belittling of Amazon makes the company look bad.

Oh for the love of...  If they're making shit up with regard to release dates, that is bad thing for them to be doing.  People need to be aware if the information from a normally reputable source is not valid, and if a normally reputable source is deliberately providing misinformation they deserve whatever anyone says about them.

Have you considered that maybe the way their system is set up requires the input of some date and that the reticence of Catalyst to actually provide an accurate date is the problem?

And the correct course of action in that case is to put in a placeholder date that is clearly and obviously false, until such time as you can fix the system so that the entry is able to read "TBA".

Or realistic time frames set and accurate information given to Amazon. Guess which one makes Catalyst look better.

2)  Catalyst doesn't deal directly with Amazon.  At all.  We don't provide them with any information, we don't sign off on anything.  We do send out sell sheets to distributors and retailors that we do deal with, but those sell sheets never include release dates.

They are a popular venue for consumers to procure goods, you should be doing everything you can to cooperate with them and providing accurate information.

I'm seriously confused as to why A4BG snapped like that, since Bull's far from the only person in this topic who says Amazon's release dates can't be relied on for more than just Catalyst products. Could someone explain?

I have been harsh with regards to Amazon in the past.  I think they are very bad for business overall, All4 is, obviously, a fan.  (And this is a topic for another thread, so we shouldn't prolong it here, thanks), I think he jumped to the wrong conclusion here thinking I was just bashing on Amazon, rather than responding to the umpteenth hundred post saying "Amazon says it will be out by X!"

He is only saying that we should not believe in amazon dates in reggards to shadowrun.

But aside from that "OH! NO BULL DOESNT LIKE AMAZON..... THE COMPANY IS GONNA IMPLODE!!!!!!! RUN!!!RUN TO THE HILLS!!!!!!!!"

cīmon man grow up a little

Unless Bull has a real life shadowrunners team ready to torch amazon to the ground i think amazon is gonna survive the HUGE blow of Bull disliking the company

Well, I fortunately don't use Amazon enough for that to be an issue for me. I WOULD like more info on the site about upcoming products, though.
I get that most of you guys are freelance, and I'd imagine that slows things down. But if there was more of an "upcoming products" on the Catalyst site, even with the dreaded TBA attached, maybe people wouldn't be starving for info on Amazon's site as often?

I'm glad you made a thread to hate on my thread.

Real good. But on topic - let Amazon do what they want. They aren't owned by catalyst they can put whatever date they want. I didn't know if it was real or not so I thought what better place to ask than here?

I'm sure Catalyst has a good reason for not putting out a date and they will when they are ready

Makes one wonder.
There's always one PC who just can't go with the flow.  They have to have something that sets them apart.  Something blatantly obvious to everyone who plays with them.

I don't think that this is about you, per se. The Dev Team gets a lot of flack across numerous boards because they aren't living up to expectations set by Amazon. Bull's posted this on a couple boards.

You accepted an official answer with good grace (likening it to Blizzard), but some people are... Testy when the official explanation isn't what is proclaimed on a non-official website.

My take, catalyst got surprised by higher than expected demand for their product.  I suspect it has to do with a number of factors, including an improving economy.  To meet demand they really need to drop a core book before Christmas.  People are getting irritated by the slow release schedule but the pdf presence is keeping the game moving forward.
Warning: most likely posting from a tablet.

I understand. My bad for jumping to conclusions. I just thought it was too coincidental to not be about the thread I posted lol.

But still. It's ready when it's ready and they'll release a date when they feel like it lol. I'd rather they take the time to make it OMGAWESOME instead of bleh

Yeah, sorry if this came off as "hating on" your thread. Not my purpose.  Since SR5 has been announced, there have been easily a dozen or more threads where Amazon release dates get brought up, and it's really counterproductive (not to mention very wearying) to have to post the same batch of replies (and have the same arguements) every time.

This was supposed to be more of a "catch all" informative post to sorta catch everyone before they post that in the future, but unfortunately I'm having a crap day so was snarkier and crankier than I meant to be, and of course its the internet so it went from zero to flamefest in 5.0 seconds.  hence why I unstickied it.
