I'd probably say common... I'd also be tempted to kick the reaction up a grade around para-dogs... if they're just scared of a normal dog how scared are they going to be of a fire breathing hellhound or a bhargest that paralyzes with its howl?

Ditto with ScytheKnight on this one.  Dogs are relatively common in lots of security loadouts, particularly those locations that aren't immediately crowded in with buildings (downtown sprawls are less likely to have dogs on-site).  And good lord I can't wait to see the puddle you make when you see a bio-drone coming at you.  :)

Hehe ;)
I'm making a rigger for a short campaign.
With a severe phobia for dogs, he's not leaving his pickup if he even thinks dog are in the neighbourhood ;D

The campaign is intended for a few new players to test drive their characters :)
The GM has told me hes going to change the wolf-shifters in the story to canine-shifters :P :o

Having a look at today's appearance of dogs in real life I guess they are at least one of the most common pets if not the most common one. Not only a simple natural security system but with cats, rats and areal rats (aka pidgeons) the most common animal to meet in everyday life even in SR. Maybe not in city centers, but about everywhere else.

From my experience Allergies and Phobias for such things automatically get more in the GM's focus when players have them on their list of Qualities. Might bringt some more fun to the game, but might also get pretty taxing to play ... Especially with canine-shifters around ...  :P

Nevertheless, for a test campaign such a character will be surely fun to play and may highlight the drawbacks from such Negative Qualities for new players.

Mr. Johnson turns out to be Mrs. Johnson who insists on taking her chihuahua everywhere she goes, including meets with runners.  :)

I roleplay allergies/phobias with mentor spirits as well.  You're not afraid of the dog shaman, but...man, there's something about him that makes you a little twitchy.
