I have some sympathy with CanRay, I've never played Classic Deadlands, just run it. I am now in a Savage Worlds Deadlands game.

I really think that this is something Catalyst should consider, for example, the 2050s project or something similar.  This Kickstart concept really, really works well for popular products and Shadowrun is one of these.  Maybe they could give it a test run with something?
