Hello all! I have been toying with the idea of GM-ing my own SR game. This will be my first PBP GM experience, so I would ask for the players to be patient. I have a rough outline for the story, but know that the story will change depending on what the players do and what their backgrounds are. Here are a few guidelines:

- As I'm not too familiar/comfortable with things for a high-level Matrix game, things related to the virtual world will be low-key. That is not to say that I don't want anybody using the Matrix; I just want everyone to be clear that I will need help and guidance.

- Standard 400BP for creation, core books (books referenced in the master index of the 20th anniversary core book) are fair game. 2X Cha of free contacts. Above all, characters should be fun and entertaining. I will take a character with interesting flaws over a superman any day of the week. Give me something I can work with and I will try my best to make the story interesting for both you and your character.

- Game will start in Tokyo, but may move to other cities, depending on where things take us.

- Frequent posts are mandatory. I'm here every day, but don't expect posts to be made on a daily basis. I want to keep this game moving, but do understand that life happens. If you warn me in advance of an absence then everything will be cool. Unexplained, long (a week or so) absences rub me the wrong way. I'm looking at the long-run here, so if players inexplicably phase in and out, they will be dropped.

I'll post additional details as things develop.

I'm in another PbP at the moment but I'm interested.  I had a changling face rolled up for a different game I might use or maybe a infiltration/investigation mage.  I don't mind getting passed over for someone who isn't currently involved in a game but wanted to express my interest.

I have no preference as to new players or people already in games, as long as you can commit to frequent posting.

Also, because the game will start in Tokyo, a changeling might be quite challenging for both you and your team. But an infiltration/investigation mage might be good. I'm just looking for backgrounds at this point, so if you want to post it or PM it to me, I'd be more than happy to read it.

I usually can post at least 2-3 times daily.   EST timezone and usually active between 7am and 10pm if not later.  I'll think on the mage and send a PM.

I'd also be willing to take part if possible. Changeling Technomancer. As a player, I'm better at doing Matrix stuff than anything else.

Which book is best for info on Tokyo?

AEST Timezone. Active usually between 9am and 11pm. Fridays are an occasional exception, but I'll usually find some way to get online.

Here's some extra info on Japan in the 2070s

http://shadowrun.wikia.com/wiki/Japanese_Imperial_State

I intend to run the JIS as a big brother country. Most Japanese will be xenophobic, but not openly vocal about it. They won't give looks to an Orc walking down the street but won't sit next to him/her on the subway. There are cameras on every major street/intersection, meaning any non-Japanese looking person will sometimes get chosen for "random" verifications. Gunshots are a big deal (we're talking evening news big deal here). Just showing a firearm (handguns, SMGs, and automatics will be tightly monitored by law-enforcement and incur a +4 to availability, rifles and shotguns being the only firearms socially accepted) will get you all kinds of unwanted attention.

The Yakuzas are (obviously) the dominant crime syndicate. It is rumoured that too many politicians are in business with them, but nothing you see on the news will hint at that. The Japanese Megas have a big say in Japanese politics as well, and they are well regarded within the population. That's not to say that the shadows don't know how things are really run.

Heya

would love to throw my virtual hat in the ring, have had a mystic adept B&E/combat specialist idea bouncing around in my head that i think could work well (havent put it on paper yet...). im also AEST and atm have loads of availability (see Unemployed...) but hopefully that wont be true forever. As i work in outdor recreation, i may become very unavailable at that time and need to bow out however its also winter here in Aus so this off season (and no one seems to be hiring)

Let me know if this would be an issue.

As long as I am aware of you leaving or having a timeframe for your return, it should be fine.

Would like to put my hand up, but as a first timer doing pbp I could understand not being picked on that basis, but I have a half finish paramedic on the go... I can finish him over the weekend  and either post here or send ya the chummer file if I can have a go.

I am interested in playing a game as well.   I prefer Riggers or Faces, but I am willing to play whatever slots need to be filled.  I am not playing any pbp games currently (but I don't know if that matters).  Currently I am on break (I'm a teacher) so I can post many times a day.

I'm currently only looking for backgrounds and character bios, so you don't need to have a full character on hand yet. Whatever inspires me the most will get picked. This game is open to anyone that can commit to frequent posts and has a character background that will catch my attention. I'm looking for about 4 runners, so if their skills complement each other, even better.

Also, I don't have chummer. Not because I don't want to, but because they don't make it for my OS. So, unfortunately, chummer files are not a possibility for me :(
