How would you code a modular full arm with a modular forearm?

1. Modular connector between meat shoulder and full arm add essence cost of the full arm
2. Capacity cost for the elbow connector between upper arm and forearm is subtracted from full arm capacity
3. Capacity of forearm is subtracted from full arm capacity

How would you code a modular full arm with a modular forearm?  If the mount cost is associated with the modular piece, but the modular piece is a capacity item...  I don't think there's been an item in Shadowrun yet that costs both capacity AND essence.

It's even more problematic when you are trying to code the cyberware for use in a character generator.

The only solution I have been able to workaround is moving ALL the Essence cost to the mount, and having specific mounts for specific limb types. (Like Modular Mount, Shoulder or Modular Mount, Additional Shoulder)

Otherwise any "extra" swappable arms all impose their full Essence cost as well.

Which is how they work anyway. Arm needs Shoulder mount, Forearm needs Elbow Mount, etc. So I really don't know why the Essence cost isn't all in the Mount to begin with, especially since that's the only part that is connected to the biology.

There is no direct connection between the Seed and anything in Earthdawn. What it refers to is the rise of Resonance sensitivity "the Seed of Knowledge" caused by the magical storage of information at the end of the last high mana cycle. In addition to the reference in Neo-A-Streetpedia, the Seed is mentioned in Third Parallel (pages 78-79), Hack and Slash (pages 134 and 155) and it's explored a little more in last chapter of Astral Ways (there will also be some information about it in Falling Point). You can also research UnITy, Nous, and the Noosphere.

Thank you very much. It was mentioned as a Fourth World thing and I know that even if Catalyst cant officially or canonically confirm the connection anymore some writers still throw easter eggs in ( we got the T'skrang back recently after all) so I thought maybe this Resonance group may have had some reference to them back in the day. I will go take a look.

Okay here is another one with Earthdawn (I presume) connections. In The Neo Anarchist Streetpeedia in the "Resonance and Dissonance" section it mentions ancient elves who made a connection to the resonance and called it "the Seed".

What is this referring to? I have scoured the internet and cant find anything about it. It's bugging me so much.

Are you perhaps thinking of "Item Attunement"?

Item Attunement seem to be for a very specific item. If the specific item is destroyed (beyond all possible repair!) then the Karma Cost spend in the Item Attunement process is likely lost.

Can you attune another item? I don't see why not.
As long as the Adept have the Item Attunement Metamagic and go through the entire Item Attunement process (including paying Item Attunement Karma Cost, again).

Ah crap.  Yeah that does need clearing up then.

The intent is that the essence cost goes into the bigger body part (or adds to the limb's preexisting essence cost)

When you say it adds to the limb's cost it sounds like you're making a case for the limb and the mount to be the same grade.  That would suck.

if you have a cyberarm/leg and then have a swappable forearm/lower leg, that partial's capacity should be subtracted from the "upper" limb's.

If this type of pairing is possible... then yeah that needs a lot of clearing up.  If I want to have a non modular cyberarm with a modular forearm, intuitively that mount should cost capacity, not essence.
Really wish connectors had been [1] instead of [2], it really limits what my covert ops guy can do with synthetic modular arms.

Barring a future set of rules designed to cover underwater combat... it's generally the realm of Edge.  Does the weapon work just as well underwater as above water, like a knife or speargun?  Probably no edge penalty, or maybe even bonus edge do its appropriateness.  Does the weapon work terribly underwater, like a club?  Not only would you probably generate no edge at all (even from AR or attribute mastery) but maybe you can't even spend any existing edge!  All GM call.
