Title: Online, monday night shadowrun!
Post by: Gretik on <08-09-12/2331:49>
I'm looking at starting a 4th edition game on Monday nights. I'm GMT based, but willing to be flexible about when I start so that people from the states can have a chance to play. Willing to take a group of 4 or so players, though I have one already interested so that leaves 3 spots. I'm available via skype (pm for details) to talk about character creation, which will be fairly standard at 400 bp.

About what time would the game be starting?

Yo, Ympulse. That's still up in the air, but I'm free through most of the day so I could start anywhere from about 3-4pm. 11-12pm would be about the latest I'd be willing to start. Puts it somewhere in the region of 9-10am through to 6-7pm EST, if I've got my conversion right.

[Edit] Just wanted to add, I'd be looking to run for 3+ hours at a time, exact session length would depend on when we started and how long people had.

I'm good to play from 4-5PM your time until whenever. If everyone's time meshes up I'm more than willing to throw my hat in. Let me know what you need :)

Nice to see I'm not the only one on this side of the pond who's looking for a game. I would definitely be interested in joining if we can start at around eightish.

Well that's three people thus far able to play from about 8pm GMT onwards, so I'll tentatively go with that as a starting time. Puts it at about 3 or so EST I think.

[Edit] Maddok, is there any chance you would be able to start from around 7, there's another guy from the continent who is a couple hours after us time zone wise?

Seven's a problem  for me, how about we meet halfway?

Right, 7:30 will have to be the time. If anyone wants to discuss character ideas, just hit me up on skype. It's GretikUk

Strike that, we'll stick with eight as the other player has had to drop out anyhow.

You already know I'm there. I've got a physical adept in the works, Unarmed + Gunbunny, and stealth. Will post after I run it by you.

Edit: Also my Skype is Krazzeekane, add me if you haven't already.

Name: Tyvain T. Ralner
Alias: Reaver. Ty is acceptable if he knows them.
Race: Minotaur
Sex: Male
Nationality:
Age: 28
Eyes: Grey
Hair: Black
Height: 8' 9"
Weight: 865 lbs. (392 kg)
Skin Dark Brown with Black Fur
Lifestyle: 3-3-3-3-4 (Middle)
Karma Spent: 0
Starting Nuyen: 2,100¥

Physical Description:
Reaver is about 8' 9" tall, with a very large, muscled build. His massive body is covered in a short black pelt, and he sports two large curved horns that jut out below his chin--giving him a vicious headbutt. He has a slightly wide, square face that is slightly bovine, with large, flaring nostrils. A hoop hangs in his nostril, a throwback to the mythological beast that he resembles. He has pointed ears, and a large sloping forehead.

His physique is second to none, as he prides himself on physical fitness. His torso is nearly equal to that of three men stretched across a large, barrel-like chest. Rippling muscles bulge just beneath the skin, showing wherever patches of fur are lessened. His left arm is shiny cybersteel, scuffed and scrathed from the uncountable number of fights he's been in. He wears a long black Lined Coat, with two large pistols visible on either hip. He keeps his main pistol on his left cyberarm's bicep, ready to be deployed to his hand in a moments notice. He wears a pair of goggles atop his head which he uses in combat, otherwise he uses his smartlinked contact lenses for regular business.

Personality/Background:
For as long as he can remember, Reaver has always been a fighter. Born to two normal troll parents in a small sprawl a bit outside of London, he grew up to be quick, tough, and strong--mainly due to his father drinking himself into a stupor and regularly trying to beat Reaver and his mother--whom he tried to protect when his father was drunkenly raging through the house.

When he was 10 years old, he began to group into a full fledged troll, as his body began to change. He was told it was only natural, trolls reach puberty young like orcs, and soon he'd be able to show his father he was nobody to be picked on--and grow he did. By the time he was 13, he was already nearly eight feet tall, and weighing in at a good 600 pounds. He loved ever second of it: The looks of terror on the faces of other people when he lumbered by, the way he could walk through and clear a swath through a packed crowd with ease, even the way he began to resemble the mythological Greek Minotaur.

When he was 14, his father came home early in the morning--just as the sun was coming up--very, very drunk. Reaver could hear his father yelling for him to come outside, and he had been waiting: working out to old Fitness Trids all through the night in anticipation of when his father would try to mess with him again. Reaver  and his father got into it good, but now his father's advantages had changed. Reaver was very nearly the size of him now, and refused to take his father's bulldrek any longer. But his father was still older, and experience is the greatest teacher. Reaver recieved a brutal beating, but as he slowly pulled himself back to his feet, he felt a surge of energy course through his being. Feeling faster, quicker, and stronger than he ever had before, he moved with startling speed and savage grace behind his father, and delivered a blow to the back of the head. The celebration was short lived however, as his father collapsed on the spot into a coma. He never woke up, and his father was pulled off of life support when Reaver was 15.

After that he decided to funnel his anger and rage into a focus--Boxing. There was a small Boxing club not too far from his house, and so it began. He started to relentlessly exercise his body more and more, pushing it to its very limits--trying to bring about that surge of power again. After weeks of futile effort, he tapped into it again during his sparring match. It was a cool morning, and Reaver had gone out to exercise and prepare himself for the fight on his own instead of in the gym. As the sun rose and he performed his daily routine, he felt the power surge back into him again--and frag, it was good.

He proceeded to beat the unholy drek, and very nearly kill outright, the poor razorboy they put in front of him--another troll, even more massive than his father. After that he did a few more matches before being approached by a man who wanted him to come to the underground scene, "Big Nuyen," he promised. Reaver couldn't say no. He was an underground favorite, going by the moniker "The Monstrous Minotaur" (They weren't the most clever bunch), and won match after match. After a string of KO victories, he and his promoter went to London to visit a 'special doctor' his promoter said he knew. After dropping nearly 110,000 Nuyen on modifications, he was indebted to his promotor for a very, very long time. He worked hard to pay it off, and by his 50th fight he had made enough that his body completely belong to him now--no one else.

On his 26th birthday, also the eve of his 58th fight--the 57 before ending in first round KO, without exceptions--He was jazzed to be doing what he loved. Nothing gave him the rush of seeing the fear in some poor slotter's eyes as Reaver let himself and his will to fight become one--feeling at peace and yet at turmoil all at once. However this round, his promoter wanted him to take a dive--and that's something Reaver just can't do. His promoter made it clear, "Either you work with me, or I'll have you out on the streets with the rest of your piss-poor troll family, eating gutter rats and--" He never had a chance to finish, as Reaver beat the main to death in a blind rage without a thought. He cursed his temperament, and then hid the body just enough so he could have time to escape. He made it out of the sprawl and ran to London. He figured where else would be better to hide than such a large city, and soon he got his first taste of the shadows. He found that a large, massive Minotaur is a good complement to the group, and many were astounded with his ability to move so fast and silently for such an extremely large beast. He's been running two years now, and loves it.

Concept:
Reaver is a combat monster. He has been fighting since he was young, and he is one of the best at it. He's primarily a physical adept in the ways of unarmed combat, with pistoleering and stealth skills.

His extremely large size and 865 pound weight bely an extreme amount of agility and savage grace, unnatural for such a large character. He can move with the quickness and grace of an elven infiltrator, but dish it out as well as any street samurai. In melee combat he becomes a truly fearsome foe, his cyberarm augmenting his already very powerful strength--delivering deadly force to any who meet his fist. He is not merely some big bruiser, however. He can walk across the most thin of surfaces and not leave a single trace of his passing. He can use his adept powers to make him nearly imperceptible to those he wants not to notice him--until it is too late.

He's been a shadowrunner for just a little under two years, so he's relatively new to the biz. But he knows a few things for sure: He won't murder children and defenseless women, other than that he follows the contract to the letter. It's all about the nuyen.

Personal Quote: "There are those who say they could outsmart me. Maybe...maybe.
...
I have yet to meet one who can outsmart my fist."

If there's still space, I'm interested.  I'd prefer to use characters I've created already (see sig), but can make new if you have specific requirements for the build.

I currently have four players, I'll speak with them to see if they want a 5th, but neither of your pre-generated characters would really fit in.
The party already have a melee adept, a... very... nutty mage and a spread of other stuff between them. They were also all built with the standard 400 build points.
Also, I am unaware of how the karma gen system works and wouldn't allow a character that had been built by it anyway, since it'd be unfair to the other players as they didn't have the same opportunity.
(I'm not concerned with whether it is or isn't a more or less balanced way of building a character, only that all of the players follow the same guidelines to keep it fair within the group.)

If you're still interested in the possibility and want to throw a new character together anyway, I promise I will look it over.
If you want to swing the group over, they're definitely lacking a purely in the meat, I shoot people with my guns kind of a character.
That said they are pretty much *all* freaks in one way or another, so feel free to try and come up with something that fits the theme.

I'm more comfortable playing these types of character, but I can try to build a street sam or something. I'm fairly new to the game, so I've been sticking somewhat to the kinds of characters that I play in other rpgs.  Let me know if they're okay with a 5th player; if not, I totally understand.

BTW, Lexx was built with 400 BP.  I can send you her chummer if you'd like.

I'm personally allright with a fifth. If you need help or guidance putting together a street sam, shoot me a PM.

In fact, I even put together a sam for you, since I had some spare time, if you're interested in taking a look.

Awesome :) I'd like to see this build; I'm still new so anything helps.  I already threw together most of a character.  I need to finish up gear and background stuff.

@Gretik
It feels like chummer is letting me make this char kind of OP, but since so far my chars have been of the "are you SURE you want to play something that weak!?" variety, I guess it's not so unexpected? I can send you the chummer file if you'd like (PMing you my skype info; I'll be back online in the morning EST).

Let me know if we're playing tomorrow (er, today x.x).  That'll be 3 p.m. here, so I'll have to hurry and wrap up the char if so.  (that's not a problem, just need to know so I can set aside the time. I ♥ character creation.)

I didn't see any restriction on metavariants, so I went for a gnome, because I think it would be hilarious for a "little kid" to be beating the crap out of people.

Cool. I'll PM you the basic stat block I have on hand here in a few hours, once I'm able to get to my home computer.

Just be aware, the background/story/personality is all blank.

My experience of making street samurai is that they seem OP compared to a lot of other types of character could play, but they're limited in that they can't summon mojo and that their augmentations are usually readily identifiable at the start. We are playing today from 8pm GMT, so whatever that translates to you. My skype is GretikUk so feel free to add me.
