Title: Temp. addition to a New England-based group?
Post by: Chocolate Radio on <01-02-12/0116:58>
Happy New Year's, everyone!

This may probably be a strange sort of request, but are there any groups in the New England area that would be interested in adding one more player for the mid February to early March period of this brand-spankin'-new year? In explanation, I've been kicking it here in Afghanistan for the past year now, and among many of the PnP-RPG pdfs that I've brought over with me on deployment, I've really gotten into the Shadowrun 4E stuff. Unfortunately, there's not really that much of a chance to play something like that in the down-time between missions, even if I could find someone in my platoon who'd be interested, so I've had to bide my time. I'll be (hopefully) getting redeployed to Germany towards the end of this month, and to the 'States for a 30-day leave period close to the middle of February. I shouldn't be having much of anything to do for that period of time, so having a long travel time to another part of New England isn't too great a concern (I'll be taking leave in central Massachusetts). Just as long as travel time there+back is in sum less than time spent per session, I'm good to go (really, I'd be willing to drive 12 hours each way if that meant 24 hours of SR) . I would love to get a chance to partake in a couple solid sessions before I'm back off to garrison in Germany soon after the first week of March.

I haven't had any intimate experience with Shadowrun outside of playing a couple sessions of 3E maybe five years back - and at that point I barely knew the setting or system. Now, due my last couple of months of reading through the material in my off-time, I'd like to consider myself fairly solid with both the crunch and fluff aspects of the game, albeit lacking any sorts of hands-on experience. Bad comes to worse, I'd also be willing to GM a few games with whatever knowledge and skill I can muster (once again, central Mass. will be my A.O.).

To note, I'm not going to be having any sort of steady internet access until I'm done with reintegration in Germany sometime at the beginning of February, but I should be able to check messages/emails at least weekly thanks to the M.W.R. center out here. After that time, I should have ample free time to hash out any possible plans over the 'net.
