Title: Ultra armor
Post by: Tonatiuh on <10-17-11/1405:26>
I want a suit of full body armor, with a full-faced helmet and gloves. But it has to be lightweight and have a commlink on the arm. How much should I expect to pay for such a beast?  :o

Um, buy full body armor with helmet, buy a commlink. Stick commlink on arm. Done.

Should cost in the 8000 nuyen range.

Comes with a free side of "every security force that even sees you is going to harass you like wow".

There are times you go for Full Body Armour.  Those times are few and far between, typically, when playing Shadowrun.

Put it on just before the insertion part of a mission and take it off just after the exit move.
But he's got a diffent perspective of being a defender out in the wilderness so lone star isn't going to be there to random check him.

Wilderness is good.  Hell, go to the jungles around Bogota and you'll blend right in!  ;D

Sounds like it would be a good time to find/create some house rules for dehydration if some sap wore full body armor with helmet in the jungle.

Cool guys! Love the feedback!

I probably won't be in Bogota any time soon though. At least for a while, I'm anchored in Anchorage.  ;D

Technically the Urban Explorer jumpsuit is a full body armor suit with an optional helmet.

With full body armor, you've got a whole set of capacity items available if you use the optional Armor Suit Capacity rules from arsenal.

A commlink takes 2 slots.  A sim module takes another 2 slots.

Plenty of ways to justify walking around in full body armor, and it is restricted, not forbidden, after all. Body guards and mercenaries that stick to rough areas can even get away with it as a fashion statement.

It's the equal of open carrying a gun. Draws attention and makes people nervous, but there are plenty of reasons to do so in the 6th world. Hell, with BAIL ENFORCEMENT AGENT, INDEPENDENT POLICE CONTRACTOR or PARANORMAL MONSTER HUNTER on it in big white letters will explain to most people why it's on without having to ask any questions.

Thanks Kontact! What's the armor capacity rule? I don't have Arsenal.

Joush, I like the way you think! I will definitely be thinking of what to put on my armor!

Curiously is there any armor that has a "quick take off". Be interesting to see that. Probably not too useful but i thought it'd be cool to just press a button and it all comes off for a quick get away or something. I don' t know....

There's a quick release mentioned somewhere.. It's either built in or a mod. I'll look it up.

my advice get forfitting body armor with pps attached. its 8/6 armor that counts as 4/3  You can combine that with any armor. So unless you're going to have a body of 8 there is little point wearing the full body armor. And even if you did have a body of 8...

synergist buisness line counts as 11/7 and looks like normal clothing wear the formfiting underneath and you have  19/13 armor. Then add your body to that of course 27/21 on damage resistance. Add some cyber and bio on top of that again 35/29 That's 11 damage you negate. Yea..

PPS doesn't work like FFBA. Adding a piece of PPS is like adding a helmet, rules wise.

AND PPS is rigid. FFBA is Flexible and gets its special Status (only half Encumberance) from being flexible and taylormade)
adding PPS to FFBA means eliminating this advantage

with two different Dances that don't mix

It's a mod for military armor.

Don't forget there's also the YNT SoftWeave armor mod in War! to make armor less cumbersome (reduced encumbrance penalties). Military armor has mobility upgrades for the same purpose.

BTW, do you know what you can put into a helmet according to the capacity rules? A machine pistol. Or as I refer to it, A Killer Mullet.

I can haz diffrent uhpinyuns?

Lol I love all the feedback. And since I have 250,000 nuyen, I'll have no problem wasting it on maybe two suits of armor! :P

No, adding PPP doesn't eliminate the advantage, it merely does not stack with the advantage. the FFBA is halved, then applied to total armor along with all the unhalved armor.
